Job Description

Job Summary FlexForce Pros is seeking a highly skilled Structural 6GR Welder with strong mechanical aptitude and experience performing high-quality welds on heavy structural steel components. This role requires advanced proficiency in GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and GTAW (TIG) welding processes, with the ability to perform multi-position welds in restricted conditions on carbon and stainless steel assemblies. The ideal candidate will have experience working on large, engineered structural fabrications requiring precision, strength, and strict quality standards. This is a temporary contract position offering competitive pay and per diem. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work. The position averages approximately 50 hours per week, including overtime pay. Job Duties Perform structural welding using GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and GTAW (TIG) on carbon steel, stainless steel, or combined materials Weld structural components in all positions, including overhead, vertical, and restricted-access conditions consistent with 6GR-level skill requirements Fabricate and weld heavy plate, beams, frames, and assemblies to drawing specifications Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, shop drawings, and fabrication layouts Perform semi-complex to advanced fitting and layout, including squaring, leveling, and alignment Use fixturing, clamps, jigs, and tooling to ensure dimensional accuracy Produce structurally sound, water-tight, and visually acceptable welds across a range of material thicknesses Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards Maintain adherence to all shop safety policies, procedures, and production schedules
Minimum Requirements:
Education High School Education or GED required Knowledge & Skills Weld test required and must be successfully completed during the interview process Applicants must provide their own welding helmet Familiarity with shop welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools, and measuring devices Demonstrated experience as a structural welder in a fabrication or industrial environment Advanced welding proficiency in at least two of the following processes: GMAW (MIG) FCAW (Flux Core) GTAW (TIG) Proven ability to weld in restricted and multi-position conditions consistent with 6GR qualifications Strong understanding of AWS structural welding practices Ability to accurately interpret weld symbols, tolerances, and fabrication drawings Experience working with heavy structural steel, plate, and load-bearing assemblies Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods Ability to lift 40 pounds regularly without assistance Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination Comfortable working in an outdoor & indoor job site environment with varying temperatures and noise levels Work Authorization Must be authorized to work in the United States.
