The pay ranges from $27
  • 35 per hour experience dependent. This job works Monday
  • Friday 7 am
  • 4:30 pm.
Position Summary The ideal candidate will have experience in pipe fitting, welding, and fabrication for marine vessels and components. Assemble, fit, align, and weld pipes and structural components for ships, boats, and offshore structures, ensuring all work meets design specifications, quality requirements, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret piping drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, isometrics, and fabrication sketches. Measure, cut, bevel, fit, align, and assemble pipe and tubing using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment. Fit and weld pipe spools, valves, flanges, and other piping components according to specifications and approved welding procedures. Perform welding using applicable processes such as MIG, TIG, and SMAW on piping and fabricated components. Prepare piping and materials for welding by ensuring proper fit-up, alignment, joint preparation, and weld joint cleanliness. Conduct measurements, visual inspections, and quality checks to ensure piping and welded assemblies meet specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. Grind, clean, and finish welds and fabricated components as required. Repair or modify piping and welded components, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and replacing damaged sections. Collaborate with supervisors, welders, engineers, and other tradespeople to complete fabrication and repair projects on schedule. Report equipment malfunctions, material shortages, welding defects, or fabrication issues to supervisors. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience as a combination welder/fitter, pipefitter/welder, or similar position, preferably in a marine, fabrication shop, industrial facility, or construction environment. Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, isometrics, blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication sketches. Proficient in measuring, cutting, beveling, fitting, aligning, and assembling piping components. Experience with MIG, TIG, and/or SMAW welding processes; ability to perform quality welds in various positions is preferred. Knowledge of proper welding procedures, fit-up requirements, joint preparation, and weld quality standards. Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately to specifications and tolerances. Ability to work safely around welding equipment, heavy equipment, pipe handling tools, and fabrication machinery. Physical Requirements Comfortable working in a hot fabrication shop or dockside environment. Bending, crouching, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Ability to work in small spaces or at heights. Handling of heavy steel components.
