Full Job Description PURPOSE:
This Level I Maintenance Welder position is for a person with strong welding and pipefitting skills. This person must be capable of both stick rod and TIG welding, including welding of alloy metals. This position supports the day-to-day operation of the site solving issues primarily within the pipefitting and welding fields, but with opportunities to work in all other traditional maintenance skill areas such as instrumentation, electrical, rotating equipment, equipment operation, etc. This work is diverse and demanding, requiring flexibility, drive, thoroughness, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must possess strong pipefitting and welding skills Must be capable of stick rod (SMAW) and TIG welding Welding of alloy metals required Ability to read P&ID's, isometric piping drawings, and related mechanical drawings Ability to troubleshoot components associated with piping systems, exchangers, pumps, boilers, and related equipment Ability to install components associated with piping systems, pumps, exchangers, tower work, and other mechanical equipment Ability to lay out, fit up, and weld piping systems constructed of carbon steel and alloy metals Applicant must be capable of passing welding qualification tests in the 6G position per Calumet Welder Qualification Procedures Ability to operate all moving equipment (forklifts, manlifts, all-terrain equipment, etc.) Ability to direct contractors and assist in mentoring other Maintenance employees Ability to work in and/or learn all maintenance skill areas in the plant Must demonstrate strong safety awareness and adherence to all plant safety procedures All other tasks as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES
High school diploma or equivalent GED required Minimum of five years' experience in a plant or industrial environment in a welding/pipefitting role preferred Able to work days, nights, and weekend hours as required by the job Must be willing to work, carry a pager/cell phone, and respond to callouts Must participate in weekend Call Out Rotation Must follow all safety rules and participate in all scheduled training
