Responsibilities Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine project requirements. Perform various welding processes including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, power tools, and rigging equipment to ensure precise cuts and assemblies of sheet metal, pipe, and other metal materials. Operate plasma cutters, machining tools, and other fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal components accurately. Fabricate metal structures by cutting, bending, welding, and assembling sheet metal and other metal materials while adhering to safety protocols. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to guide fabrication processes; apply shop math for measurements and calculations. Maintain a clean, safe work environment by following safety procedures and handling tools responsibly; ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations. Skills Proven experience on construction sites or in a fabrication shop environment with a strong understanding of mechanical fabrication processes. Proficiency in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and interpret mechanical blueprints accurately. Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and other precision tools. Mechanical knowledge of pipe threading, rigging, assembly techniques, plasma cutting, machining, and sheet metal fabrication. Familiarity with safety protocols related to welding operations and fabrication environments; adherence to OSHA standards. Experience operating power tools such as grinders, drills, saws, and hand tools safely and effectively. Strong shop math skills for measurements, calculations, and material estimations; basic math proficiency required. Knowledge of AWS standards for welding quality assurance; experience interpreting technical drawings is essential. Ability to work efficiently on fabrication projects involving metal materials while maintaining high quality standards.
