Welder Job Description This role involves primarily MIG welding on agricultural and transportation products while interpreting blueprints and setting up welding equipment independently. You will work with a variety of steel thicknesses, use jigs and fixtures to lay out projects accurately, and have the opportunity to learn and perform TIG welding as needed in a growing, shop-based environment. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on agricultural and transportation products, ensuring strong, clean, and consistent welds. Carry out TIG welding tasks as required, with training provided if you do not yet have TIG experience. Read and interpret blueprints and welding drawings to understand project specifications and requirements. Lay out projects accurately using jigs, fixtures, and clamps before welding. Set up and adjust welding machines independently based on the type of metal and material thickness. Work primarily with 1/2" steel or smaller gauge materials, selecting appropriate settings and techniques. Maintain a sense of urgency while producing high-quality work in a steady, organized shop environment. Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and orderly work area. Collaborate with team members and shift leads to meet production goals and deadlines. Adapt to night shift work after initial training on days and maintain reliable attendance. Essential Skills At least 1 year of MIG welding experience. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and welding drawings. Ability to independently lay out projects based on blueprints and specifications. Ability to set up and adjust your own welding machine for different metals and thicknesses. Experience working with 1/2" steel or smaller gauge materials. Strong MIG welding skills with attention to weld quality and consistency. Basic familiarity with TIG welding or willingness to learn. Ability to use jigs, fixtures, and clamps to position and secure workpieces. Solid understanding of welding safety practices in a shop environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications TIG welding experience is an asset, with on-the-job training available if needed. Previous experience welding agricultural or transportation products is beneficial. Experience working from detailed blueprints in a production or fabrication shop. Comfort working independently to set up equipment and complete assigned projects. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality under time constraints. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in an expanded fabrication shop with approximately 40 people across two shifts. The role is primarily on the night shift, with initial training on the day shift for about 3 to 6 weeks before moving to nights. Typical hours are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for days and 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. for nights, with overtime available on Fridays. The environment emphasizes steady, urgent work without a frantic pace, using welding machines, jigs, fixtures, and clamps to handle mostly 1/2" steel or smaller gauge materials. A standard industrial shop dress code is expected, including appropriate workwear suitable for welding and safety gear in line with shop safety requirements. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
