Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shop Welder/Fabricator to perform welding, fabrication, cutting, and repair work in support of our heavy equipment fleet and field operations. The ideal candidate will be proficient in stick and MIG welding, capable of producing parts on a CNC plasma table, and experienced in rebuilding and reinforcing high-wear components used on earthmoving and demolition equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Welding and Fabrication:
Perform high-quality stick (SMAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding on structural steel, equipment components, attachments, and fabricated assemblies. Lay out, fit, tack, weld, grind, and finish fabricated parts and repairs using drawings, measurements, templates, and field dimensions. Operate saws, torches, grinders, drills, ironworking tools, and other shop fabrication equipment safely and accurately.
CNC Plasma Cutting:
Operate the CNC plasma table to cut replacement parts, wear plates, brackets, gussets, and custom components from steel plate. Prepare or modify basic part files and nesting layouts as needed, verify dimensions, and select appropriate material and cutting parameters.
Heavy Equipment Wear-Part Repair:
Rebuild, reinforce, and repair wear components on excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, and demolition equipment, including buckets, cutting edges, wear plates, side cutters, guards, and attachment components. Remove worn or damaged material, fit replacement steel, hardface high-wear areas when appropriate, and restore components for safe continued service. Inspect fabricated and repaired components for fit, weld quality, alignment, and structural integrity before returning them to service.
Compliance and Safety:
Follow all welding, cutting, lifting, hot-work, PPE, and shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a welder/fabricator in a heavy equipment, construction, industrial, or similar repair environment. Proficient in stick (SMAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding, including welding thicker plate and structural components. Experience rebuilding and repairing buckets, wear plates, cutting edges, demolition attachments, or similar high-wear equipment components. Experience operating a CNC plasma table and producing parts from steel plate. Ability to read basic fabrication drawings, understand dimensions, accurately measure and lay out work, and work from samples or existing parts. Working knowledge of steel types, plate thicknesses, weld preparation, fit-up, hardfacing, and distortion control. Ability to safely operate common fabrication tools and material-handling equipment, including overhead lifting devices and forklifts as applicable.
Licenses and Certifications:
AWS welding certification is a plus but not required; demonstrated welding ability and quality workmanship are most important. Valid driver's license preferred.
