Summary The Welder Fabricator is responsible for assembling and welding structural steel components according to engineering drawings and project specifications. This hands-on position involves interpreting blueprints, preparing materials, and executing precise welds using FCAW and other welding techniques. The Welder Fabricator ensures the structural integrity and quality of fabricated parts while adhering to strict safety standards in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment. Perform FCAW to join structural steel components. 2. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols. 3. Prepare materials by cleaning, grinding, and chamfering surfaces. 4. Visually inspect completed welds for quality. 5. Follow all safety protocols and use required PPE. 6. Set up, calibrate, and maintain welding equipment. 7. Apply welding procedures, including preheat and post-weld treatments. 8. Use hoists and cranes to position steel members. 9. Operate welding tools and equipment safely. 10. Use hand tools to set up and adjust equipment. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must have practical experience in welding and fabrication, with a strong understanding of structural steelwork. The ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols is essential, as is proficiency in FCAW welding. Familiarity with fabrication tools, safety procedures, and overhead crane operation is required. • High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum age: 18 (Exception CO-Op with Technical School)
• Welding, fabrication, or manufacturing experience
• Weld test required.
• Knowledge of welding tools, flat/horizontal/vertical positions.
• Overhead crane, rigging, and forklift experience.
• Strong communication skills.

Work Environment This position involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and overhead cranes, occasional outdoor conditions, and moderate noise levels typical of a fabrication shop. The employee may be exposed to extreme heat or cold and to loud machinery or equipment. When entering production areas, employees must adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection and safety glasses.
