Summary Welds together metal components of products such as metal appliance parts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Obtains specified gage wire and sets TIG welder to proper temperature based on type and guage of metal being welded. Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle. Welds in vertical position. Examines weld for bead size and other specifications. Cleans weld joint or workpiece. Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes. Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter. Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig or fixture. Fills metal part corners to customer specifications. Follows all safety and quality policies and procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
