Job Description

Position Summary Responsible performs welding procedures to meet ASME Sec VIII quality standards under minimal supervision. These standards include but are not limited to X-ray and U.T. non-destructive examinations. Must be familiar with GMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes. This position will build ASME pressure vessels as required by supplied drawings and calculations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Proficient in assigned code welding techniques Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings, including weld requirement symbolism Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials Working knowledge of fixtures and weld set-up parameters (amps, volts, etc.) Conventional and precision measuring instruments Process inspection, certification, and documentation Welding equipment maintenance Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools Safety and housekeeping knowledge, promoting a philosophy of zero accidents Support Manufacturing Engineering on improvement projects Adhere to company policies, procedures, and rules Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude Flexibility to work hours necessary to meet plant requirement Perform other duties as assigned by the area supervisor Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High school diploma, or equivalent Successful completion of an internal welding test Previous code welding experience Code welding certification Position Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Three years minimum of prior code welding experience Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, in some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary. Elements of the work environment are non-climate controlled.
