About the Role We are seeking a skilled and reliable Welder/Fabricator to join our fabrication team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for MIG and TIG welding, custom metal fabrication, and building high-quality chutes, transitions, guards, and other components that support our food processing operations. You will work in a growing shop environment, turning blueprints and custom requirements into finished stainless and mild steel products while maintaining tight tolerances, food-grade finishes, and strict safety standards. This is a key position that will help build and maintain the equipment that keeps our hazelnut processing facility running efficiently.
THE WELDER / FABRICATOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Fabrication & Welding Operations
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding (hard wire) on mild steel and stainless steel to high-quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to fabricate chutes, transitions, guards, and other custom components.
  • Custom fabricate approximately 70% of projects based on shop needs and verbal direction.
  • Determine optimal welding procedures and techniques for each job.
  • Grind and finish welds to maintain tight tolerances and smooth, sanitary surfaces.
  • Safely maneuver large projects using forklifts and rigging equipment.
  • Use grinders, die grinders, and other shop tools proficiently. Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain strict attention to safety best practices, especially during complex or overhead work.
  • Ensure all fabricated items meet quality, fit, and finish requirements for food manufacturing environments.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Teamwork & Dependability
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards.
  • Demonstrate strong attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance shop efficiency and capabilities. What You Bring
  • 3-5 years of hands-on MIG/TIG welding experience with hard wire (welding school candidates with limited real-world shop experience will not be considered).
  • 2-3 years of fabrication experience.
  • Proficient blueprint reading skills (our prints are relatively simple).
  • Strong knowledge of mild steel and stainless steel properties and welding techniques.
  • Ability to think on your feet and solve custom fabrication challenges creatively.
  • Experience using forklifts and rigging equipment.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to best practices.
  • Reliable, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience fabricating food-grade or sanitary equipment.
  • Previous work in a custom fabrication or maintenance shop.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50+ lbs, and work in various positions (including overhead).
  • Exposure to welding fumes, grinding dust, noise, and shop temperatures.
  • Use of PPE (welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.) is required.
  • Day shift with occasional overtime as needed.
