Job Description

POSITION
Shop Welder/ Fabricator FABCO is a full-service steel fabricator seeking a Shop Welder/ Fabricator to join our fast-growing team in Woodburn, Oregon. Our state-of-the-art facility, combined with a highly skilled fabrication team and advanced technology, allows us to deliver a wide range of structural steel projects—from small fabrications to complex assemblies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fabrication & Welding Perform structural welding on carbon steel and stainless components using approved procedures. Layout, fit, and fabricate steel parts and assemblies from shop drawings and blueprints. Weld components using processes such as MIG, FCAW, and SMAW as required. Produce high-quality welds that meet company and project specifications. Material Preparation & Assembly Accurately cut, grind, clean, de-burr, and prepare materials for welding. Measure and verify components to ensure dimensional accuracy. Inspect completed welds and assemblies to ensure quality and specification compliance. Perform minor repairs, rework, or adjustments as needed. Shop Operations & Equipment Support daily fabrication operations and production schedules. Set up and operate welding machines and shop equipment. Perform basic maintenance on welding equipment, tools, and workstations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Teamwork & Training Assist in training and mentoring less experienced welders. Communicate effectively with shop leadership and team members. Support a productive and collaborative shop environment. Perform occasional field welds or adjustments when required (not primary function). Safety & Quality Adhere to all FABCO safety programs, shop policies, and OSHA requirements. Maintain quality standards while accurately measuring and documenting results. Professional Responsibilities Demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Maintain professionalism and accountability in all tasks.
EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2+ years of welding or fabrication experience. D1.1 certification preferred D1.8 certification preferred, but not required Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints. Experience with structural steel and/or custom fabrication work. Strong understanding of welding processes and fabrication techniques. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop environment. Valid driver's license required. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. FABCO is an equal-opportunity employer.
