Welder and Fabricator Job Description This role focuses on the fabrication, breakdown, transport, and installation of heavy mild steel components in warehouse environments. You will safely disassemble large structures and machines into manageable sections, load and secure them for transport, and reinstall them within existing or new facilities. The position involves both onsite welding and fabrication at customer locations as well as project work at the company's local facilities near Southbridge, MA. Typical projects include mezzanines, railings, equipment repairs, and industrial modifications. Responsibilities Fabricate and install heavy mild steel components in warehouse and industrial settings. Break down large machines and structural components into manageable sizes for safe handling and transport. Load, secure, and unload materials and equipment onto trailers in a safe and organized manner. Transport disassembled materials and equipment to new locations and reinstall them within existing structures. Perform onsite welding, fitting, and fabrication work at client facilities and at company locations near Southbridge, MA. Work extensively on mezzanines, railings, and structural steel elements to meet project specifications and safety requirements. Carry out equipment repairs and industrial modifications to restore or improve functionality. Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and fabrication plans to ensure accurate layout and assembly. Perform MIG welding (including FCAW and pulse processes) and/or stick welding (SMAW) on carbon and high-strength steel plate. Use cutting, drilling, grinding, and beveling techniques to prepare materials for fit-up and welding. Operate oxyacetylene and plasma cutting equipment safely and efficiently for material preparation. Assemble and fit components using appropriate hand tools and power tools to achieve proper alignment and tolerances. Perform TIG welding and work with stainless steel components when required by specific projects. Inspect completed welds and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both shop and field environments. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in active warehouse and industrial facilities. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to plan work sequences and complete projects on schedule. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience in MIG welding, including standard MIG, flux-cored (FCAW), and pulse processes, or equivalent experience in stick welding (SMAW). Proficiency in fabrication of mild steel components, including layout, fit-up, and assembly. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication plans. Strong skills in cutting, drilling, grinding, and beveling steel materials. Hands-on experience using oxyacetylene and plasma torch cutting equipment. Ability to perform MIG welding and stick welding to a high standard of quality and safety. Experience with assembly work, including use of hand tools and basic power tools. Familiarity with working on carbon steel and/or high-strength steel plate.

You will work on a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment can include noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures typical of warehouse operations, and you will follow all site safety rules and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Kingstown, RI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
