Job Description

Job Overview Fritz Metals is seeking a dependable Structural Steel Fabricator/Welder to join our team in Decatur, Texas. Both entry-level and experienced applicants are encouraged to apply. Entry-level candidates are not expected to know every aspect of structural steel fabrication when they begin. We are willing to provide on-the-job training to individuals who demonstrate mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, reliability, attention to safety, and a genuine willingness to learn. Experienced candidates will be considered based on their demonstrated fabrication, welding, blueprint-reading, fitting, and field-installation abilities. This position involves structural steel fabrication, fitting, welding, cutting, measuring, material preparation, and occasional field installation or erection work. Successful employees take pride in producing quality work, following instructions, remaining engaged, and contributing wherever the team needs assistance. Pay and Schedule $18-$27 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill Full-time position Approximately 40-50 hours per week Overtime may be available or required depending on workload and project schedules Responsibilities Assist with or independently perform the cutting, fitting, welding, and assembly of structural steel components. Read and interpret—or learn to read and interpret—blueprints, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and measurements. Measure, mark, cut, drill, grind, clean, prepare, and assemble steel materials. Operate saws, drills, plasma-cutting equipment, welding machines, power tools, and other shop equipment after receiving appropriate training and authorization. Inspect completed work and correct items that do not meet project specifications or quality expectations. Assist with material handling, loading, unloading, shop organization, and cleanup. Participate in field installation and steel-erection work when assigned. Follow all company safety requirements and wear required personal protective equipment at all times. Follow the direction of supervisors, foremen, leads, and experienced team members. Ask questions when instructions are unclear and actively seek the next assignment when work is completed. Work cooperatively with the fabrication and installation teams to meet project deadlines. Required Qualifications Dependable attendance and punctuality. Strong work ethic and willingness to remain engaged throughout the workday. Willingness to learn, follow instructions, accept feedback, and improve. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools. Ability to use a tape measure or willingness to learn quickly. Ability to perform physical shop and field duties, including standing, bending, climbing, and safely lifting or moving materials. Ability to work in a fabrication shop and at outdoor construction sites when required. Reliable transportation to Fritz Metals in Decatur, Texas. Commitment to following company safety, PPE, and drug-testing policies.
