Job Summary:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Reviewing blueprints Assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape. Smoothing molten metal to remove creases Knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, arc, and oxy-fuel welding Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals and a team atmosphere. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Performs activities of workers supervised. Able to perform routine maintenance on equipment in the assigned department.
III. ELEMENTS
Element 1
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have good math skills and knowledge of inspection tools. Must be able to read blue prints and have knowledge of production tools. Element 2
  • Education and Experience Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in welding. High School Diploma or equivalent or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Element 3
  • Language Skills Must be fluent in the English language and have good communication skills. Additional 2nd language in Spanish is preferred but not required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Element 4
  • Complexity Must possess good people skills and the ability to train and conduct problem solving techniques. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Element 5
  • Level of influence Responsibilities include training employees, planning work for the day Element 6
