Welder - Carbon

Job Description

Overview:
As a Carbon Welder, you will be responsible for executing high-quality welds specifically on carbon steel materials using a variety of manual welding processes. Your expertise will ensure complete penetration and fusion, prevent distortion, and meet precise specifications for dimension, tolerance, and strength in all welding positions.
Responsibilities:
Apply manual welding processes such as oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding (gas metal-arc, shielded metal-arc, and flux-cored arc welding) with a focus on carbon steel applications Weld carbon steel components of various sizes, shapes, and thicknesses, including pipe and structural elements Control heat input and welding techniques to prevent warping or burn-through Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders to plan and lay out welding tasks accurately Select appropriate welding electrodes or filler rods based on carbon steel type, thickness, and welding position Perform welds in confined or hard-to-reach areas requiring high precision and strength Ensure welds meet specifications for dimension, tolerance, and mechanical strength Inspect completed welds to ensure they are free from defects such as cracks, porosity, and slag inclusions Collaborate with supervisors to resolve welding challenges and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards

Education:
None Experience:
Experience performing welding on carbon steel materials using multiple welding processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
Knowledge of oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding processes; Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead); Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications; Understanding of welding materials, electrodes, and filler rods; Strong attention to detail and quality standards; Ability to work in confined or challenging environments; Problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with team members
