The Welder/Fitter must be able to interpret and analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements for steel building materials. The Welder I will be expected to fabricate and assemble structural steel components, such as beams, columns, trusses, and support systems, using welding techniques with utmost concern to detail. Will operate welding equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner and will meet timelines accordingly.
Responsibilities:
Operate welding equipment and tools, including MIG, TIG, stick, and robotic welding systems. Ensure compliance with welding standards, codes, and safety regulations, including proper material selection, weld quality, and structural integrity. Perform welding processes, such as cutting, fitting, positioning, and tack welding, to prepare steel components for final welding. Monitor welding parameters, such as heat, speed, and voltage, to achieve desired weld characteristics and quality. Inspect and test welded joints and finished products for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications. Perform regular maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure proper functioning and safety. Collaborate with a team of fabricators, welders, and other professionals to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper handling and storage of materials and tools. Maintain OSHA regulations and certifications. Additional duties as assigned.
