Portland, OR | Up to $50/hr | Heavy Overtime | Paid Lodging & Per Diem Options | Long-Term Assignment Join a Major Marine & Heavy Fabrication Program AAA USA is actively hiring experienced Structural Welders / FCAW Welders to support a major marine and heavy steel fabrication program in Portland, Oregon . We are seeking skilled welders with experience performing Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on structural steel , including welding in multiple positions. Candidates with shipyard, marine, structural steel, heavy fabrication, or heavy industrial manufacturing experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Perform production welding on heavy structural steel components Set up and safely operate FCAW welding equipment Perform gas-shielded Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions Fit and tack structural steel components in preparation for final welding Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and fabrication drawings Perform layout and measurement of structural components Operate hand-cutting torches and other fabrication equipment Inspect completed welds for workmanship and specification compliance Remove slag and perform weld finishing as required Work on large fabricated steel assemblies used in marine and heavy industrial applications Follow all safety procedures and established quality requirements
Requirements:
Previous structural welding, marine, shipyard, heavy fabrication, or heavy industrial welding experience Strong experience with gas-shielded FCAW Ability to weld structural steel using 1/16" flux core wire Ability to weld in multiple positions, including 2G, 3G, and 4G Ability to successfully complete required weld testing Experience reading blueprints and performing structural steel layout Ability to accurately read a tape measure and work with fractions Experience using cutting torches and common welding/fabrication tools Strong commitment to safety and quality Ability to work independently and as part of a production team Must be eligible to work in the
United States Weld Testing:
Qualified candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their welding ability.
