Class A Welder (Missile & Defense Manufacturing)
Portland, OR Pay:
$32-$42/hour About the Role We are hiring experienced Class A Welders to join a premier fabrication and manufacturing facility supporting aerospace, defense, and nuclear projects. This role involves fabricating, fitting, and welding structural steel components to precise specifications while working from detailed blueprints and engineering drawings. Key Responsibilities Layout, fit, fabricate, and weld structural steel assemblies Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings Operate fabrication equipment including saws, drills, grinders, and other shop tools Perform FCAW welding using .052 wire to quality standards Inspect welds and ensure compliance with project specifications Support production deadlines by working overtime during peak project phases Qualifications 5+ years of structural welding experience Strong FCAW welding skills using .052 wire Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings Experience with fitting and layout preferred Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and maintain high quality standardsSchedule Day Shift:
Monday - Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM During the first 4-6 weeks, employees should expect significant overtime, including 10-12 hour shifts and occasional Saturdays, to support critical project milestones. Schedules return to standard hours after project demands decrease. Why Join This Company? This is a heavy industrial environment where PPE is required, including steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Candidates should be comfortable working around large fabrication equipment, cranes, and structural steel assemblies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clackamas, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
