Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Field Coordinator for a direct hire opportunity in Pasadena, CA with a mission-driven nonprofit organization focused on worker advocacy, member empowerment, and strengthening collective representation. This role is ideal for a labor professional with direct union experience who has successfully supported union members, led organizing campaigns, enforced collective bargaining agreements, and developed workplace leaders. The Field Coordinator will report to the Field Director and play a key leadership role in implementing strategic field goals, guiding Union Representatives and Organizers, supporting contract enforcement, and advancing member-driven campaigns. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic field plans related to worksite issues, internal organizing, member campaigns, contract negotiations, and contract enforcement.
  • Lead and support membership drives, COPE initiatives, contract campaigns, issue-based organizing efforts, steward councils, and contract action teams.
  • Mentor, train, and coach Union Representatives and Internal Organizers to strengthen organizing, representation, grievance handling, and leadership development skills.
  • Identify and address unfair labor practices, support grievance strategy, interpret collective bargaining agreements, and guide contract enforcement efforts.
  • Facilitate steward trainings, leadership workshops, organizing education, team meetings, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Partner with internal departments and leadership to coordinate campaign calendars, political engagement efforts, growth initiatives, and member mobilization strategies. Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $110,000 to $155,000 per year.

    Pasadena, CA. Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Lead internal organizing campaigns, contract campaigns, member mobilization initiatives, and worksite issue campaigns.
  • Manage strategic field plans, campaign calendars, staff coaching, and progress tracking across multiple priorities.
  • Support contract enforcement, grievance handling, collective bargaining agreement interpretation, and unfair labor practice strategy.
  • Recruit, develop, and engage stewards, workplace leaders, contract action teams, worksite committees, and member leadership structures.
  • Direct experience working for a labor union or labor organization is required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting union members, administering collective bargaining agreements, handling grievance processes, identifying unfair labor practices, and leading organizing efforts is required.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized workplace alone does not meet the direct union experience requirement.
  • 6 to 10 years of relevant labor relations, field organizing, union representation, or member engagement experience is expected.
  • Strong knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, grievance procedures, contract enforcement, labor law, unfair labor practices, internal organizing, and membership engagement.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, supervising, or developing union staff, organizers, representatives, stewards, or workplace leaders.
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, communication, presentation, facilitation, and campaign execution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns, staff priorities, worksite issues, and organizational goals simultaneously.
  • Commitment to worker advocacy, leadership development, member empowerment, and advancing the labor movement. Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry labor issues is highly preferred.
  • Experience leading effects bargaining education, contract campaign strategy, COPE planning, or political engagement initiatives is preferred.
  • Experience building member-driven leadership structures, including steward councils, contract action teams, and worksite committees, is preferred.
