Job Description
Nonprofit Fundraising Consultant Help mission-driven organizations grow their capacity, strengthen their philanthropy, and create greater impact. As a Nonprofit Fundraising Consultant, you will help make that possible. You will work alongside Catholic parishes, faith-based organizations, and mission-driven nonprofits to strengthen their organizations. You will serve as a trusted advisor to nonprofit leaders, boards, development teams, and volunteers—helping them understand where they are today, envision where they can go, and build the strategies and systems to get there. This role requires someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution, data and relationships, coaching and accountability. You will need to anticipate needs, think critically and strategically, ask thoughtful questions, identify opportunities, solve complex challenges, and bring people together around a shared vision. This is a full-time, in-office position based at The Root Agency headquarters in Dunedin, Florida, with time spent at local client locations as needed. The position reports to the Director of Client Services. What You'll Make Possible Lead Client Strategy & Relationships Serve as a trusted strategic partner to a portfolio of nonprofit clients, working as part of a collaborative Root Agency team. Build authentic, long-term relationships with nonprofit leaders, boards, development professionals, donors, and other key stakeholders. Facilitate regularly scheduled client meetings that move organizations from conversation to action through coaching, strategy, training, recommendations, and deliverables. Understand each client's mission, goals, challenges, opportunities, and organizational context. Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen organizational and fundraising outcomes while navigating complex decisions with clarity and a data-informed perspective. Strengthen Fundraising Capacity Conduct organizational and development assessments that identify strengths, gaps, opportunities, and priorities. Develop and implement fund development strategies and fundraising plans. Coach nonprofit leaders and teams in major gift strategy, donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and relationship development. Help boards understand and embrace their role as ambassadors, advocates, and philanthropic leaders. Conduct donor, prospect, corporate, foundation, and other philanthropic research to identify strategics to strengthen donor pipeline and long-term philanthropic relationships. Help clients build fundraising systems and practices that are sustainable beyond the immediate engagement. Facilitate nonprofit leadership, board, fundraising, and professional development trainings. Guide Capital Campaigns Support capital campaign feasibility and readiness studies. Help organizations determine whether they are prepared to pursue a successful campaign. Develop campaign strategies, timelines, goals, leadership structures, and implementation plans. Coach campaign leaders, executive teams, boards, and volunteers through the campaign process. Help clients translate a vision for facilities, programs, or mission growth into a compelling philanthropic opportunity. Drive Data-Informed Decisions Analyze data and information to identify meaningful trends, challenges, opportunities, and recommendations. Translate complex information into clear strategies and actionable next steps. Identify process improvements that strengthen fundraising effectiveness and organizational efficiency. Prepare agendas, presentations, reports, recommendations, meeting notes, and next actions that keep clients moving forward. Use project management systems to ensure client commitments and deliverables remain on track. Collaborate across The Root Agency's Development, Data, Design, and Delivery functions to create an integrated client experience. Bachelor's degree required (preferred majors: nonprofit management, communications, public relations, or marketing but not required) with 7-8 years' experience in nonprofit development or small nonprofit leadership. Master's degree preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit fundraising or corporate philanthropic strategy. Experience in planned giving, major gifts, and capital campaigns preferred. CFRE or interest in working towards CFRE required. Experience in a consulting role, a plus. Management experience leading dynamic teams of all levels. Must exercise a high-level of confidentiality; be coachable, highly organized, and can execute to meet project deliverable due dates. Must be detail and results-oriented with an ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced, and continuously evolving hybrid environment with diverse teams and skill sets. Comfortable using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom and Adobe Creative Suite. Demonstrable skills in
