The Social Media Manager is accountable for the planning and day-to-day execution of the JAARS social media presence, creating polished, platform-appropriate content that builds awareness, strengthens relationships, supports donor acquisition and development priorities, and invites audiences to take meaningful action. Working under the Content Lead, this role turns organizational priorities, developed stories, campaign messaging, and creative assets into an intentional social media plan. This position brings strong marketing instincts, excellent writing and visual judgment, initiative, and a collaborative approach to content creation. Position ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Planning & Strategy This will be successfully performed when: Monthly and weekly social media plans are developed and maintained in alignment with content priorities, campaigns, donor acquisition goals, and organizational events. Content is planned sufficiently in advance to allow for collaboration, review, and coordinated production.

30% Content Creation & Publishing This will be successfully performed when: Compelling, platform-specific posts, captions, stories, reels, and other social content are written, edited, scheduled, and published effectively. Collaboration with writers, designers, videographers, the story producer, and other team members ensures the strongest available messaging and visual assets are used.

35% Community Engagement & Distribution This will be successfully performed when: Comments and messages are monitored and responded to promptly, cultivating a relational and responsive online community. Opportunities for partner sharing, cross-promotion, relevant conversations, and broader distribution through related organizations and individuals are identified and pursued.

20% Performance, Testing & Team Support This will be successfully performed when: Content performance is evaluated in partnership with the Web & Analytics Developer and Content Lead, with approaches tested and content improved based on results. Clear direction and support are provided to social media fellows, interns, or volunteers as assigned.

Demonstrated experience planning and producing effective social media content for an organization or brand. Strong marketing writing, editing, visual selection, and platform-specific content skills. Ability to plan ahead, take initiative, collaborate well, and respond constructively to feedback. Working knowledge of social media analytics, audience engagement, and content testing. Experience with short-form video, paid social media, or digital fundraising campaigns preferred.
