Community Engagement Assistant - Bilingual Cleveland Metroparks - 4.1 Cleveland, OH Job Details Part-time | Seasonal 1 day ago Qualifications Foreign language proficiency Multilingual Educational talks High school diploma or GED Driver's License Cultural competency Community relationship building Full Job Description The Community Engagement Assistant supports the efforts of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Education staff with engaging multilingual community members in learning more about Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the various programming offered and ensuring programming offered is meeting needs of the community we serve. The Community Engagement Assistant will interpret and translate messaging to the Spanish speaking community and prepare written communications in the Spanish language. Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required. Assists with community outreach and engagement program by engaging members of the community, including members of the Spanish speaking community, to inform them of programming opportunities offered, and learn the needs of community members to create programming to meet those needs. Provides interpretation and translation of the Spanish language to English language Assists with conducting community needs assessment and identifying opportunities Assists with zoo educational programs within the zoo and off-site in the local community. Provides assistance to the Education Specialists with program preparation, organizing program materials, and various administrative tasks. Participates in special events or projects as assigned. Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends. Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel. Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
Requirements:
High School Diploma required. Some College desired. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license under the laws of the State of Ohio. Must pass background screen which includes fingerprinting and drug screen. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and cultural competency Ability to engage diverse audiences in zoo programming and conservation initiatives. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with zoo staff, other agencies, and the public. Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings. Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative. Written and verbal fluency in the Spanish and English language required.Work Schedule :
This position is seasonal part-time for a six-month period working three 8-hour days a week. Varies, must be available to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.Filing Deadline:
