Job Description
Director of Advancement About Us Food Share of Lincoln County's mission is to alleviate hunger in Lincoln County by distributing healthy, nutritious food to our network of agencies and by empowering our community through education. The Food Share warehouse serves as the central distribution point for 23 partner agencies in the county. As a regional food bank, FSLC is overseen by a Board of Directors and collaborates with Oregon Food Bank to distribute USDA commodity foods, food donated by producers in the food industry, and local donations from retailers and individuals. FSLC has been in existence since September of 1982. Beyond our longevity, we have strong community goodwill and support, which are significant. Community members make up our volunteers, donors, partner agencies, board of directors, and a variety of businesses and organizations that support our work. We also are an example of good stewardship and strategy. Our current warehouse/office space is owned outright and we have completed the purchase of our future warehouse location this past year. FSLC focuses on serving those in the community with respect and dignity and those who are vulnerable; low-income, working-class families, military veterans, BIPOC, LGBQT, foster youth, seniors, and unhoused. We partner with fellow non-profit agencies and housing units to develop programming that requires the fewest obstacles and affords easy access to those in need. We also engage and empower members by offering Nutrition Education regarding fresh foods and healthy eating. Position Summary The Director of Advancement will participate in Food Share's fundraising and community engagement efforts, focusing on donor relations, events, communications, capital projects, and providing administrative support. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about building community support to address hunger. Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Donor Relations 50% Maintain donor database; process and acknowledge gifts promptly. Support and develop annual giving campaigns, donor stewardship, estate gifts, and cultivation activities. Utilize data informed strategies. Grant writing, tracking and reporting. Events & Campaigns 30% Help plan and execute fundraising events and community engagement activities. Coordinate logistics, board and volunteer engagement, and follow-up. Assist with capital campaign and other fundraising initiatives. Communications & Outreach 10% Develop donor-centered communications, including newsletters, social media posts. Share stories of impact and increase visibility of Food Share's programs. Administrative Support 10% Provide admin and support as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, nonprofit management, or related field; or equivalent work experience. 2 - 3 years of nonprofit development, communications, or administrative experience preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge using donor management software (e.g., Little Green Light, DonorPerfect, or similar). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and social media platforms. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities. Passion for hunger relief and commitment to Food Share's mission.
