About our Church Downtown Hope is a growing church of approximately ~300 regular attendees located in Annapolis, Maryland. Our mission is to be "a family of faith, a movement after Jesus, transformed by the gospel, for our city and the world." We are passionate about discipling Christ-followers, expanding God's kingdom in our city, and strengthening our family of faith. This role is for a proven leader with a passion and skillset for communicating within a ministry context. Job Summary Downtown Hope is looking for a Communications Lead to meet the growing communications needs at our church while faithfully serving our church body and local community. This Communications Lead will be responsible for strengthening organizational clarity, ensuring consistent messaging across ministries and platforms, and building scalable communication systems that support continued church growth. This leader will serve as both a strategic thinker and hands-on contributor who can lead projects, build effective systems, collaborate across teams, and execute high-quality communication initiatives with excellence. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership potential, experience in and passion for communications, and Christ-like character. Desired outcomes - Communications Plan Develop a comprehensive communications plan for Downtown Hope across all channels that optimizes cost, reach, and inspirational messaging Map out a communications approach for each ministry at Downtown Hope to minimize confusion and maximize awareness Develop a system for all communications that it is simple to execute and approachable for the entire staff, elder, and leadership team Build out a repository of templates for common communications that is easily accessible and replicable - Outreach Strategy Develop a strategy for reaching the city with the gospel and the invitation to join the family of faith at DH Identify best practices of growing churches for reaching the "unreached" or unchurched Devise potential "new" creative solutions for communicating DH content (e.g., podcasts, bumper stickers, radio ads, little league sponsorships, etc.) Support the communication needs of our key ministries (Children of Hope, Youth, College ministry, Love Annapolis, etc.) -

Implementation:

Create a roadmap to implement all the above; include who does what and when, resources required, expected timeline, ongoing support required, etc. Begin implementation and manage hurdles as they arise Be the primary POC for all communications; work with various ministries to ensure the leadership is aligned or trained with the approaches developed in the comms plan Every 3 months: conduct an assessment of all church comms and adjust assets as necessary to restore adherence to the comms plan (e.g., adjust the website, reformat bulletin, tweak podcast, etc.) -

Collaboration and Leadership:

Work with staff and the Executive Team to ensure consistency and excellence in all communications Periodically meet with ministry leads and elders to identify and address communication gaps Manage graphic designer(s) as needed to support all communications Experience and other key details We are seeking a committed leader with communications experience who demonstrates spiritual maturity and a heart for our church and mission Must be committed to Downtown Hope's vision and contributing to the body Reports to:
