Job Title:
Temp Family Engagement Specialist Classification:
Part-time 20 hrs/week /
Hourly/ Non-Exempt Salary Range:
$17.55 - $22.42 /hour, depending on qualifications
Schedule:
Varies - some after-hours and weekend hours are required.

Springfield Area Parent Child Center (SAPCC) is a community-based organization dedicated to strengthening children, families, and caregivers. We connect families with resources, relationships, learning opportunities, and practical supports while working alongside community partners to build a stronger community for everyone. Job Summary:
The Family Engagement Specialist is a relationship-centered position that connects families to SAPCC, community resources, and one another. This position brings SAPCC into the community through playgroups, family activities, outreach, events, and other engagement opportunities. The Family Engagement Specialist builds welcoming and trusting relationships with families, helps families navigate available resources and services, and connects people to the support that best meets their needs. The position works across SAPCC programs and with community partners to increase awareness of services, strengthen connections, and make it easier for families to access support. This is a hands-on, community-facing position for someone who enjoys working directly with families, building relationships, creating connections, and being part of a collaborative team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Family Engagement & Support Build positive, respectful, and welcoming relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and families. Serve as an accessible first point of contact for families connecting with SAPCC programs and services. Help families identify needs, navigate resources, and connect with appropriate SAPCC and community services. Provide information and referrals based on an understanding of SAPCC programs and available community resources. Facilitate and support playgroups, parent education activities, family activities, and other opportunities for families to connect and learn. Engage with families in a variety of community settings and help make SAPCC services accessible to families where they are. Support families using the Strengthening Families Approach and other models identified by the Program Director. Promote a welcoming environment that reflects SAPCC's commitment to belonging, compassion, community, and empowerment. Community Outreach & Partnerships Represent SAPCC at community events, outreach activities, and other community-based opportunities. Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, schools, businesses, and other partners. Communicate information about SAPCC programs and services to increase community awareness and access. Identify opportunities for collaboration and help strengthen partnerships that benefit children and families. Encourage community participation in SAPCC programs, events, and activities. Help connect SAPCC with potential volunteers, donors, sponsors, and other community supporters. Program Support & Development Support implementation and coordination of assigned Parent Child Center programs and services. Work across SAPCC programs to help families access services and ensure opportunities for connection between programs. Assist with program development, growth, and continuous improvement as directed by the Program Director. Collect and maintain program data, attendance information, feedback, and other required documentation. Gather feedback from families and community partners to help evaluate and strengthen services. Maintain appropriate records and complete required documentation in a timely manner. Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as appropriate. Events, Fundraising & Community Engagement Participate in SAPCC events and community activities throughout the year. Support event planning, preparation, implementation, and follow-up as assigned. Help communicate SAPCC's mission, programs, and impact to community members and potential supporters. Participate in organizational fundraising efforts, including promoting fundraising events and opportunities. Help identify individuals, businesses, organizations, and community members who may be interested in supporting SAPCC. Participate in donor appreciation and stewardship activities as appropriate. Contribute to a culture in which fundraising and community engagement are shared responsibilities across SAPCC. Teamwork & Organizational Responsibilities Work collaboratively with the Program Director and SAPCC staff to support families and strengthen program integration. Communicate effectively with internal and external partners. Maintain confidentiality and follow SAPCC policies, procedures, and applicable program requirements. Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support changing program and community needs. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required Experience working with children, families, caregivers, or community-based programs. Ability to build trusting and respectful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team. Comfort using technology for communication, documentation, and data collection. Commitment to SAPCC's mission and values. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Preferred Associate's degree in human services, social work, psychology, early childhood education, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience with family support, human services, early childhood, parent education, community outreach, or related work. Experience facilitating groups, playgroups, educational activities, or community events. Experience with data collection and program documentation. Experience working collaboratively with community organizations and partners. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
PHYSICAL & SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel throughout the communities served by SAPCC. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends based on program and community needs. Ability to regularly stand, walk, push, pull, and move throughout program and community settings. Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds as needed for program activities, events, and materials.
