Job Overview K2 Development is a Redding, CA-based family of companies spanning affordable housing property management and development (K2 Development, Golden Circle Management Group) and hospitality (Front Door Hospitality, Redding Public Market). We are looking for a Communications Specialist to support marketing, communications, and community and event work across the organization, including for various affiliated entities — spanning real estate development, property management, general contracting, field services, and hospitality. This is an entry-level, growth-oriented position with real upward mobility. Marketing strategy, budget, advertising, brand guidelines, and public relations are directed by K2's Corporate Marketing Committee; the Communications Specialist assists the Committee and the COO with the day-to-day execution, learning the business from the ground up with strong potential to grow into a Communications Manager role and beyond. Key Responsibilities 1. Marketing & Communications Support Committee Support. Attend K2 Corporate Marketing Committee meetings, take notes, track action items, and help keep marketing projects, campaigns, and calendars on schedule. Content Assistance. Help produce day-to-day marketing content — social media posts, flyers, email updates, and simple print or digital materials — using templates and brand guidelines provided by the Corporate Marketing Committee. Asset & File Management. Organize and maintain marketing files, photos, logos, and brand assets so they're easy for the team to find and use. Basic Reporting. Help track and compile simple performance data — social media engagement, event attendance, advertising results — for review by the Corporate Marketing Committee. 2. Community & Event Support Event Logistics. Assist with the planning and on-the-ground logistics of company events tied to holidays and community dates, including setup, vendor coordination, and day-of support. Calendar Upkeep. Help maintain the company's internal and external event calendars, keeping listings current and accurate. Community Liaison Support. Represent K2 Development at select community events and meetings alongside the executive team, building early relationships with local organizations and tourism partners. 3. Administrative & Cross-Team Support General Support. Provide administrative support to the COO and Corporate Marketing Committee as needed, including scheduling, correspondence, and basic research. Cross-Department Coordination. Help gather updates, photos, and information from K2 Development's affiliated businesses (property management, construction & development, field services, hospitality) to keep marketing and communications materials current. Additional Projects The Communications Specialist will take on additional projects and tasks as assigned by the COO or the Corporate Marketing Committee — offering exposure to new areas of the business and real opportunities to grow into greater responsibility over time. Qualifications and What We Are Looking For This is an entry-level role, and we don't expect candidates to arrive with a finished skill set. We're looking for someone early in their career with a strong drive to learn, a positive attitude, and the ability to keep pace in a fast-moving environment — with real potential to grow into a Communications Manager role and beyond. Eager to Learn. Genuinely curious, coachable, and excited to build a career in marketing, communications, or public relations. Organized & Reliable. Able to juggle multiple small tasks and deadlines, follow through, and communicate proactively when priorities shift. Comfortable in a Fast-Paced Environment. Adaptable and level-headed when priorities change quickly across a busy, multi-business organization. Basic Digital & Social Media Fluency. Comfortable with everyday tools such as email, spreadsheets, and social media platforms; familiarity with simple design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe) is a plus but not required. Team-Oriented. Works well with others, takes direction well, and is comfortable supporting a committee and executive team rather than setting the agenda independently. No Specific Degree or Experience Required. Internships, coursework, part-time jobs, or personal projects related to marketing, communications, events, or social media are a plus, but are not required to apply.
