REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and fluently. Computer experience. Type 59 correct keystrokes per minute for Alpha. High School diploma or GED. Two years experience in a customer service environment. Medical terminology and CPT codes, insurances, Medicare, MCR HMOs and Medicaid knowledge.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Medical Office Administration Degree. Medical Assisting Degree. Experience in medical environment. Completion of an approved Medical Terminology course or Medical Terminology knowledge. Experience with Meditech or other medical data systems. Certification by a professional organization (CAM, CHAA or CHAM). Ability to communicate in Spanish.
NATURE OF WORK
Performs office work and documentation, research, collection of copays and patient financial responsibility in a very fastpaced office setting with continuous patient contact without breaks in time. Discusses payment responsibilities with patients in an empathetic and professional manner and determines criteria for financial assistance. Manages large numbers of incoming physician orders received via fax and via the internet. Work cooperatively with surgical and clinical departments, and must have knowledge of the processes, procedures and paperwork requirements necessary for each modality and procedure. Must retain knowledge of many procedures and keep abreast with all changes of insurance, admission, transfer and hospital procedures and rules. Maintains strictest confidentiality at all times in accordance with hospital policy.
