The Development & Communications Associate plays a key role in advancing the mission of Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans by supporting fundraising, donor engagement, and organizational communications. This position is ideal for a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment and is eager to grow in nonprofit development and communications. The Associate supports individual giving, grant administration, donor stewardship, and digital and print communications, helping ensure consistent messaging, strong donor relationships, and effective storytelling that reflects Travelers Aid's impact in ending homelessness in Greater New Orleans.Key Responsibilities:
Assist with individual giving efforts, including donor acknowledgements, stewardship activities, and donor communications Maintain accurate donor records in the organization's CRM, including gifts, contact information, and interactions Support grant administration, including tracking deadlines, compiling reports, and gathering program and financial data Assist in preparing fundraising materials such as appeal letters, donor updates, presentations, and reports Support donor meetings, cultivation activities, and fundraising events as needed Draft, edit, and proofread content for newsletters, social media, website updates, and email communications Assist in developing impact stories, program highlights, and organizational success narratives Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications platforms Support social media scheduling and engagement across platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram Coordinate basic graphic design needs using tools such as Canva or work with external vendors as needed Provide administrative and project support to the CEO and Advancement functions Track development and communications metrics, including donor engagement and outreach performance Support special campaigns, initiatives, and organizational projects Assist with board communications and preparation of fundraising and outreach materialsQualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field 1 -3 years of experience in nonprofit development, communications, or related role Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Experience with donor databases or CRM systems (e.g., Little Green Light, Bloomerang, Salesforce, or similar) Familiarity with social media management tools and basic design platforms (e.g., Canva) Interest in homelessness, housing stability, or social justice issues Experience working in a small or mid-sized nonprofit organization Key Competencies Mission-driven and values-aligned Strong communicator and storyteller Detail-oriented and deadline-driven Collaborative, adaptable, and professional Discreet and donor-focusedLocation & Work Environment:
