Job Description
- Partner with communications leadership to implement and support internal communications strategies.
- Own content curation, copywriting, editing, and layout for site and organizational newsletters.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for operational communications requests from departments such as Security, EHS, and Facilities.
- Manage and maintain the site intranet, including drafting, editing, publishing content, and updating site structure and links.
- Create compelling written content including:
- Technical stories and employee features
- Organizational and business updates
- Event recaps and highlights
- Leadership and people-focused communications
- Support social media initiatives through content creation, posting, and audience engagement.
- Track and analyze communication metrics to measure the effectiveness of newsletters, intranet content, and social media campaigns.
- Maintain a strong onsite presence to understand site culture and ensure messaging resonates with both technical and non-technical employees.
- Collaborate with and support the broader communications team on various projects and initiatives. Candidates for Communications Specialist must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 1-5 years of professional experience in communications, internal communications, marketing communications, or related areas.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong content creation, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Ability to work independently while incorporating strategic business objectives into deliverables.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to support a hybrid work schedule with approximately 3 days per week onsite in Niskayuna, NY.
- Experience supporting communications within a corporate, technical, engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Ability to simplify and communicate complex technical information for varied audiences.
- Familiarity with intranet management, content management systems (CMS), and newsletter distribution platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with an action-oriented and adaptable approach.
- Experience managing communication metrics and reporting campaign effectiveness.
- Knowledge of social media content management and audience engagement strategies. What's in this Communications Specialist position for you?
