Marketing, Media and Communications Specialist, Dean of Graduate School (Hybrid)

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • + Bachelor's degree + 5 years' experience in public/media relations, marketing, journalism or related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • + Experience with graduate-level recruitment or STEM-focused outreach programs. + Experience in program assessment, data analysis, and strategic planning. + Experience developing marketing or digital recruitment content.
  • Job Summary:
  • This role supports the university's strategic priorities by employing a broad range of communications, media relations and marketing skills to inform and engage internal and/or external audiences.
This role plays a key part in advancing awareness of UTMB and driving exposure to the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) Programs. Position will collaborate with GSBS leadership, staff, and department stakeholders. Position includes direct communication with target audiences, as well as activities that facilitate communication by the Dean and GSBS leaders.
  • Job Duties:
  • + Develops internal/external communications + Writes ad copy and assists with design for advertisements - print, digital, direct mail, etc.
+ Helps develop and execute social media presence + Writes general materials (student/program/school content) which can be used for digital, print, etc. + Collaborates with internal audiences to develop creative concepts and collateral materials + Develops media pitches and addresses media inquiries, coordinates interviews, etc. + Help develop and execute integrated marketing plans for the school, programs and student services. + Works with representatives from mission areas as needed.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • + Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills + Strong interviewing and fact-finding skills + Experience in the development and execution of integrated marketing and communications plans.
+ Exhibits clear knowledge of marketing and communications tools, including digital, print, direct mail, new media, outdoor, television, radio. + Experience tracking, analyzing and reporting results of marketing/social media campaigns + Excellent written and verbal communications skillsCollaborative + Ability to work effectively and directly with people at all levels + Shoot and edit video + Proficient use of the Adobe suite of creative software, PowerPoint, etc. + Strong interviewing and fact-finding skills
  • Marginal or Periodic Functions:
  • + Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. + Performs related duties as required.
