As a Communications Specialist, you will play a vital role in coordinating emergency and critical care transports, facilitating patient transfers, supporting regional healthcare operations, and ensuring patients receive timely access to specialized medical services. Key Responsibilities:

Emergency Transport Coordination Coordinate helicopter and ground ambulance transport requests for UT LIFESTAR and UT Medical Center Ground EMS. Monitor and track active transport missions using flight-following and communication systems. Manage incoming transport requests while ensuring efficient allocation of resources according to operational guidelines. Provide real-time communication and operational support to flight crews, EMS personnel, hospitals, and healthcare partners. Patient Transfer & Acceptance Coordination Facilitate patient transfers and acceptance into UT Medical Center using established clinical acceptance protocols. Collaborate with specialty service lines, transport teams, and the Patient Placement Center to ensure seamless patient transitions. Coordinate critical care and specialty transports to support timely access to advanced medical services. Regional Medical Communication Center Support Serve as a key communication link during regional healthcare and emergency response operations. Coordinate messaging, information sharing, and resource communication among healthcare facilities, EMS agencies, and emergency response partners. Support Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) and emergency preparedness activities when activated. Communication Center Operations Maintain accurate electronic and paper records, logs, and documentation. Communicate critical operational information clearly and effectively to all stakeholders. Utilize navigation, mapping, tracking, and notification systems to support transport and communication operations. Complete daily communication center activities in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Three years experience in Air Medical Communications or 911/EMS Dispatch Three years experience (recent) patient care in a 911 EMS system Years of Experience can be related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
