Job Description
Overview The Internal Communications Specialist will serve as our Culture Correspondent, responsible for creating, curating, and delivering compelling employee communications that strengthen engagement, support organizational culture, and connect employees to the company's mission, values, and business priorities. Responsibilities This role is a storyteller, relationship builder, and trusted communications partner who translates company strategy and leadership messaging into meaningful content that resonates with employees across diverse generations, locations, and audiences. The Internal Communications Specialist develops content that promotes transparency, celebrates employee achievements, reinforces company culture, and supports enterprise-wide initiatives and organizational change. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, write, edit, and distribute employee communications that inform, engage, and inspire team members. Manage and maintain internal communication channels, including the intranet, employee newsletters, email communications, digital displays, and collaboration platforms. Ensure communications are timely, accurate, engaging, and aligned with company priorities, values, and culture. Maintain editorial calendars and communication schedules to support ongoing business and employee communication needs. Serve as a central point of contact for identifying, developing, and sharing stories that highlight company culture, employee accomplishments, innovation, community involvement, and business success. Proactively seek out and elevate employee success stories, team accomplishments, safety achievements, acts of service, innovation, and examples of employees living the company's values. Create a network of communication champions across parks and corporate teams to encourage ongoing sharing of local stories and achievements. Conduct interviews with employees and leaders to uncover authentic stories and meaningful experiences that bring the company's culture to life. Develop employee spotlights, recognition features, culture stories, leadership messages, and other content that celebrates the employee experience. Assist in developing communications on behalf of executive leaders, including employee announcements, presentations, talking points, video messaging, and town hall content. Translate executive vision, strategy, and business priorities into employee-friendly communications that are clear, relatable, and actionable. Support communication strategies for organizational changes, technology implementations, operational initiatives, policy updates, and other enterprise projects. Develop and curate employee-focused content for LinkedIn and other approved external communication channels. Ensure external employee-related content aligns with company messaging and brand standards. Track communication engagement metrics and evaluate content effectiveness. Recommend enhancements to communication strategies, channels, and content based on analytical insights and employee preferences. Qualifications The ideal candidate is passionate about uncovering and sharing authentic employee stories, fostering connections across the organization, and ensuring employees receive timely, relevant, and engaging communications. Education Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Human Resources, English, or a related field preferred. Experience 3-5 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, employee engagement, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field. Experience creating content for multiple audiences and communication channels. Experience supporting employee engagement initiatives, culture programs, or change management communications preferred. Experience working in a multi-location or field-based organization preferred. Skills Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills. Strong interviewing and relationship-building capabilities. Ability to translate complex business concepts into clear, concise, and engaging communications. Ability to capture and communicate in the voice of executive leadership. Strong content development skills across written, digital, video, and social media platforms. Experience managing intranet content and employee communication channels. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Understanding of communication strategies that effectively engage diverse and multi-generational employee populations. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and communication technologies. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
