We're not looking for someone to sit behind a desk and make generic restaurant posts. We're looking for someone who sees a great plate hit the pass and immediately thinks, "I need to get a shot of that." If you love food, photography, short-form video, social media, and finding creative ways to tell a story, this could be a great fit. Blue Plate Kitchen is a busy, established West Hartford restaurant with plenty happening every day—from brunch favorites and new menu items to cocktails, catering, staff personalities, and behind-the-scenes moments. We want someone who can capture those moments and turn them into content people actually want to stop and look at. What You'll Be Doing Photographing food, drinks, specials, and new menu items Shooting short-form video for Instagram Reels, Facebook, TikTok, and Stories Capturing behind-the-scenes kitchen and restaurant content Creating fun staff and personality-driven content Editing photos and videos for social media Helping brainstorm fresh content ideas and concepts Building a library of photos and videos we can use throughout the month Helping showcase promotions, events, catering, and seasonal features Staying aware of social media trends and finding ways to adapt them to our brand This Might Be You If… You're creative and naturally notice moments worth capturing You have a good eye for food, photography, video or design You understand what makes people stop scrolling You're comfortable shooting and editing short-form video You enjoy Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Reels, Stories, and current social trends You're outgoing and comfortable interacting with staff and guests You can work independently and turn ideas into finished content You're organized, dependable, and able to meet deadlines You have ideas of your own and aren't afraid to suggest them Experience Formal marketing experience is not required . We're much more interested in creativity, personality, and what you can actually create. Experience with photography, videography, social media, Canva, CapCut, Adobe products, or similar editing tools is a plus. Students studying marketing, communications, photography, video production, or digital media are encouraged to apply. A portfolio or examples of your social media, photography, or video work are strongly encouraged. Schedule This is a part-time, flexible position . Most content will need to be created on-site at Blue Plate Kitchen in West Hartford, so applicants should be comfortable coming into the restaurant regularly to shoot content. Some weekend availability may occasionally be helpful for capturing busy brunch service, events, or special promotions.
