Job Description

Steiner School of Ann Arbor Content Creator $20/hour Overview The Steiner School of Ann Arbor seeks a creative and engaging Content Creator to help tell the story of our school and share the distinctive experience of a Waldorf education with our community and a broader audience. This part-time position is highly hands-on. The Content Creator will spend time on both of our Ann Arbor campuses capturing the life of the school through photography, short-form video, and storytelling, then turning those moments into compelling social media content. We are looking for someone with a strong visual sense, an authentic voice, and an ability to recognize and communicate the stories that make our school distinctive. The Content Creator reports to the School Administrator and collaborates with faculty, staff, and others involved in the school's marketing and enrollment efforts. Key Responsibilities Create engaging and authentic content for the school's social media channels, particularly Instagram and Facebook. Regularly photograph and film classroom activities, student work, performances, athletics, festivals, and other aspects of school life across both campuses. Create short-form video, photography, captions, stories, and other social content that communicates the experience and value of a Waldorf education. Develop meaningful captions and storytelling that provide context for what viewers are seeing and invite engagement with the school. Build relationships with faculty and staff and coordinate opportunities to capture meaningful classroom and community moments. Follow the school calendar and attend selected events, performances, festivals, athletic activities, and other occasions that provide strong opportunities for content. Maintain a consistent and active social media presence that supports community engagement, enrollment, and broader awareness of the school. Engage appropriately with followers and the wider community through the school's social media channels. Ensure photographs and videos are used in accordance with school media permissions and privacy practices. Help organize and maintain the school's library of social media photos and videos. Collaborate with school leadership on social media priorities, planning, campaigns, and paid or boosted content as appropriate. Why Join Us? The Steiner School of Ann Arbor is a Pre-K through Grade 12 independent Waldorf school located on two beautiful campuses in Ann Arbor. Our educational approach combines academic rigor with artistic expression, experiential learning, strong relationships, and an enduring commitment to educating the whole child. This position offers an unusual opportunity to be immersed in the daily life of the school and help others see and understand what happens here: the creativity of our students, the dedication of our teachers, the richness of our curriculum, and the relationships that shape our community. Qualifications Required:
Experience creating content for social media, particularly Instagram and Facebook. Strong photography and short-form video skills using a smartphone and/or camera. Ability to create polished, visually engaging social media content. Strong writing skills and an ability to communicate naturally and concisely. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty, staff, and school leadership. Availability to be on campus regularly during the school day and occasionally attend evening or weekend school events. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred:
Experience with social media management, content planning, video editing, and graphic design tools. Experience in education, nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven organizations. Familiarity with Waldorf education or an interest in developing a strong understanding of the educational approach and school community. Compensation This is a part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week. Compensation is $20/hour. The schedule offers some flexibility but requires regular in-person presence on both campuses to capture the life of the school, as well as occasional evening and weekend events.
