+ Charter School (SJCC+CS) was founded in 1987 to empower young adults aged 18 to 27 ("Corpsmembers") to upskill themselves and advance their career in conservation and green spaces. Today, SJCC+CS continues to operate its 1-year-long paid workforce development program, while also functioning as a WASC-accredited charter high school, allowing those who have aged out of the traditional education system to earn their high school diploma. Position Summary:
The Communications and Marketing Associate position is an opportunity for someone trying to build a career in digital marketing, social media, advertising, journalism, content creation, photography, and/or videography. The Associate will support all of the company's various social media accounts, websites, newsletters, and external communication. They will be in a position to have creative freedom within the Marketing team to perform tasks independently as well as collaborative group projects and campaigns. Beyond working with the Marketing Team, the Associate will work directly with staff across all departments of the organization. The goal is to tell the organization's story, motivate young adults to join our program, build partnerships, and inspire community members to volunteer or donate. Key Responsibilities Create and manage social media campaigns across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X. Develop and publish engaging content including social media posts, blogs, newsletters, website content, and email communications. Capture and create visual content through photography, videography, graphic design, and event coverage. Share compelling stories that inspire program participation, volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and donor support. Conduct interviews and collect testimonials from program participants, staff, and partners. Maintain website content and support digital communications efforts. Monitor social media and marketing performance, track analytics, and provide recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with departments across the organization to support marketing, events, and communication initiatives. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. This position requires independent travel between field work sites, community events, and the social enterprise locations. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver's license and a clean driving record. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Passion for storytelling, content creation, and digital marketing. Experience creating content for social media, including photography, videography, and basic photo/video editing. Familiarity with major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and X. Basic knowledge of social media analytics and performance tracking. Experience with marketing and communications tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Mailchimp, Google Workspace, content management systems, or similar platforms. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and community partners. Comfortable interviewing and engaging with participants, staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications Professional Camera System Experience:
Experience operating professional camera equipment Mastery of Professional Editing Suite (Adobe Premiere/Final Cut). Intermediate skills or experience with user-friendly tools (Canva, CapCut) are plenty for day one; advanced editing can be developed over time.
Advanced Analytics & Reporting:
Ability to pull and analyze raw metrics from social platforms Prior Non-Profit /
Youth Engagement Work:
Prior exposure to non-profit, environmental, or youth development organizations.
Pay:
$26.73 - $31.53 per hour
