Location Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118. Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses. Job Summary The Strategic Initiatives & Event Marketing Assistant supports the Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives and Marketing in elevating the visibility, engagement, and overall experience within the College of Education (COE). The role plays a central part in planning and executing College- and Center-level events' especially those related to Georgia's BEST and the new Center for Educator Ethics' ensuring high-quality coordination, logistics, communication, and on-site support. The position also contributes significantly to the College's marketing and communications efforts by assisting in the creation of promotional materials, supporting digital and social media content, assisting with storytelling, and maintaining consistent branding across platforms. While the position maintains a strong focus on the Georgia's BEST program and the Center for Educator Ethics, it also provides flexible support to College-wide priorities as needed. Responsibilities 1 - -Coordinate and support College- and Center-led events (e.g., workshops, speaker series, trainings, recruitment and outreach events, donor/partner visits, and internal events.
Manage logistics:
scheduling, venues, A/V and technology, room setup, catering, décor, materials, signage, guest hospitality, and accessibility needs. Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for event stakeholders including faculty, students, staff, campus partners, and external guests. Develop timelines, run-of-show documents, task lists, and communication plans; provide on-site support including setup, breakdown, and troubleshooting. Capture and summarize event outcomes (attendance, engagement, feedback) and recommend improvements for future programming. 2 - Assist in the development of promotional materials for Georgia's BEST, the Center for Educator Ethics, and COE initiatives (digital graphics, flyers, email announcements, newsletters, and digital signage). Assist in drafting, scheduling, and monitoring content for social media and web pages; coordinate storytelling assets such as photos, quotes, and short recaps from events. Ensure alignment with institutional brand standards by collaborating with the College Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives and Marketing. Maintain and update web pages and event listings related to Georgia's Best and College activities. 3 - Assist with planning and coordination of strategic projects prioritized by the Coordinator or Dean's Office, with emphasis on Georgia's BEST and the Center for Educator Ethics. Collect, organize, and summarize data related to event participation, communication reach, and project outcomes to inform decision-making. Conduct research on best practices in educator ethics programming, higher education marketing, and community engagement to support recommendations. Coordinate multi-phase efforts such as resource development (e.g., ethical case studies, training materials), facility improvements, or workflow enhancements. Prepare draft reports, summaries, presentations, and basic dashboards to communicate progress and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders. Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Center for Educator Ethics, academic departments, assessment leaders, and external partners. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, event management, education, business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Experience Demonstrated experience coordinating events or projects and working with multiple stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication. Familiarity with digital communication tools, social media platforms, and basic content creation (e.g., Canva or similar). Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience 1-2 years of experience in event planning, project coordination, marketing, or higher education. Experience with basic analytics and reporting to evaluate events and campaigns. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or comparable design tools. Familiarity with Capcut or other video editing tools. Familiarity with email marketing/campaigning tools such as Emma, HubSpot or other email marketing platforms. Demonstrated ability to develop forward-thinking, highly creative, and persuasive oral and written presentations. Project management experience is highly desired. The ability to implement projects with high visibility and outreach. Initiative and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work with external stakeholders as assigned (e.g., district superintendents, donors, state representatives, etc.) with a focus on new and external audiences.
