Based in Poughkeepsie, we help young people in the Hudson Valley explore, experience, and excel in the arts by introducing them to visual arts and media, giving them the opportunity to develop real skills in these fields, and guiding them towards achieving their academic and career goals. The Art Effect is looking for a part-time Marketing and Communications Assistant with excellent writing skills and graphic design experience to assist with promoting the mission and work of The Art Effect.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Art Effect's part-time Communications and Marketing Assistant will contribute to a cutting-edge creative organization whose projects and campaigns make a positive impact in our community. This position is responsible for assisting with promoting the mission and work of The Art Effect. The successful candidate will assist with the organization's marketing needs, including social media content, writing and formatting promotional emails, designing flyers and graphics, working at/ covering events, and flyering. The position requires outstanding organizational and planning skills, and a passion for the organization's mission. The right candidate will be self-motivated and results-driven with proficient writing skills and graphic design experience. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for events/tablings. Positive "customer-service" attitude and eagerness to learn. Must have access to a vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Draft social media content promoting The Art Effects events, programs, and classes Utilize Adobe InDesign to design flyers, social media graphics, event journals, and more as needed Write, design, and format marketing emails for class enrollment, monthly newsletter, and other promotional needs Assist with setup and breakdown of organizational events, including gallery openings, fundraising events, and program workshops as needed Assist with event planning and tracking tasks Oversee the maintenance and inventory of promotional materials, including flyers and rack cards, giveaways, banners, etc. Distribute and handle all handouts, including flyers, rack cards, and brochures, seasonally to schools, community organizations, libraries, etc. Basic administrative tasks such as data entry into and pulling data from the Civi database, uploading events to community calendars, and organizing marketing materials Photograph and record events for social media and documentation Identify and represent (as needed) The Art Effect at various tabling events throughout the year Additional responsibilities as needed Please send resume and cover letter to employment@thearteffect.org
