Job Summary As the Marketing Assistant with Dining Services at the University of Wisconsin-Superior , you'll play an important role in bringing the campus dining brand to life through creative storytelling, engaging events, and innovative marketing campaigns. Working closely with the Retail/Marketing Supervisor and on-site dining leadership team and receiving strategic support from the District Marketing Manager, you'll help create memorable experiences that encourage students, faculty, and staff to engage with campus dining. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys combining creativity with marketing execution and wants hands-on experience across graphic design, social media, event planning, photography, merchandising, and campus engagement. We're looking for someone who loves creating content, thinks creatively, stays current with social media trends, enjoys interacting with students, and isn't afraid to bring fresh ideas to the table. This position reports to the University of Wisconsin-Superior Dining Services leadership team, with strategic support and mentorship from the District Marketing Manager. Key Responsibilities Creative Marketing & Content Creation Design eye-catching promotional materials including posters, digital signage, table tents, menus, flyers, and social media graphics. Capture and edit high-quality photography and video showcasing dining locations, food, events, and student experiences. Create engaging short-form content for social media including Reels, Stories, and trending campus content. Assist in developing creative campaigns that generate excitement around dining programs, meal plans, retail promotions, and special events. Help maintain a consistent and engaging visual identity across all dining locations and marketing materials. Brainstorm new creative concepts that reflect student interests and current marketing trends. Social Media & Communications Assist with planning, creating, and scheduling social media content. Monitor social media engagement and interact with students in a timely, professional manner. Update dining websites with menus, events, promotions, and important announcements. Assist with newsletters, email communications, digital signage, promotional campaigns, and other marketing materials. Support storytelling efforts by highlighting student experiences, culinary innovation, sustainability initiatives, and campus partnerships. Student Engagement & Events Help plan and execute dining events, pop-ups, giveaways, sampling opportunities, themed meals, and promotional campaigns. Represent Dining Services at orientation, welcome week, campus fairs, tabling events, and other university activities. Build relationships with student organizations and campus departments to increase awareness and participation. Assist with meal plan marketing and student outreach initiatives throughout the academic year. Support guest feedback initiatives and help identify opportunities to enhance the student dining experience. Merchandising & Brand Experience Maintain attractive merchandising and promotional displays throughout dining locations. Ensure marketing materials remain current, organized, and aligned with brand standards. Help create visually engaging dining environments through signage, seasonal décor, and promotional displays. Collaborate with culinary and operations teams to showcase featured menu items, limited-time offers, and campus favorites. Team Support Collaborate with dining managers, chefs, retail teams, and the District Marketing Manager on marketing initiatives. Assist with photography, event logistics, ordering promotional materials, and coordinating marketing projects. Support student marketing ambassadors or interns when applicable. Assist with evening or weekend events as needed. Perform other marketing and administrative duties that support the success of the campus dining program. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred. Internship or previous experience in marketing, communications, social media, design, or event planning is a plus. Creative mindset with a passion for design, storytelling, photography, and visual communications. Familiarity with social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok trends. Experience creating graphics using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva. Basic photography and video editing skills preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable interacting with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Enthusiasm for learning, collaboration, and bringing creative ideas to life.
