We are an independent company, with no affiliation to any insurance carrier, payer, or physician association, which keeps our data unbiased and trustworthy to every side of a transaction. Our products include TruePrice, a market-referenced pricing solution powered by current negotiated contract data, and TrueFee, an all-in-one solution for workers' compensation and healthcare fee schedules covering 43 state workers' compensation fee schedules plus the District of Columbia, federal OWCP, state PIP and auto schedules, and Medicare. Our data is used to price and reprice more than 40 million medical bills a year. About the Role This is RefMed's first in-house marketing position, and it owns the function end to end. You will take a detailed 12-month marketing plan that is already written and turn it into published content, a working website, an active LinkedIn presence, sales collateral, and a full conference calendar. The role covers general marketing and brand awareness across six audience segments: defense attorneys, MSA companies and life care planners, bill negotiation services, TPAs and payers, nurse case managers, and self-insured employers and public entities. That is a workload built for a team, and one person will carry it. The reason it is possible is that we expect this role to be run with AI tools in daily use. RefMed is an AI-forward company. We use these tools across the business, and we expect our marketing to be produced by someone who has made them a genuine part of how they work, not someone who tried them once. AI handles the first draft, the research pass, the ten headline variations, the repurposing of one article into a week of posts. You handle the judgment, the accuracy, the voice, and the decision about what is worth publishing at all. You will report directly to the CEO and work alongside subject matter experts who have spent their careers in workers' compensation pricing. They supply the technical substance. You supply the craft that turns it into content people want to read, campaigns that generate leads, and a brand the market recognizes. This is a hands-on role in a 14-person company. You will write the article, build the landing page, brief the printer, and staff the booth. What You'll Do Content Marketing and Thought Leadership Write and publish two to three long-form articles a month, rotating across audience segments and product lines. Produce quarterly whitepapers, guides, and data insight reports, working with internal subject matter experts to translate technical material into clear, credible writing. Develop case studies documenting customer outcomes, and manage the review and approval process with those customers. Write and send a monthly newsletter, and support placement of bylined articles in industry trade publications. Maintain a content calendar that keeps every audience segment served rather than defaulting to whichever topic is easiest. Working with AI Tools Use AI tools as the default starting point for drafting, research, outlining, repurposing, and editing, so that a one-person marketing function produces the output of a small team. Build and maintain prompt libraries, brand voice guides, and reusable workflows so that AI output comes back sounding like RefMed rather than like everyone else. Verify everything. Our audience includes attorneys, regulators, and claims professionals, and a fabricated statistic or a misstated fee schedule rule costs us credibility we cannot buy back. Every fact, figure, and citation gets checked against a real source before it publishes. Turn one piece of source material into many: an article into LinkedIn posts, a webinar into a guide, a customer conversation into a case study. Bring new tools and workflows to the team, test them honestly, and share what actually works. We would rather hear that something did not pan out than watch it quietly get used anyway. Website and Search Own refmed.
com day to day:
page updates, product pages, segment landing pages, campaign hub pages, and lead capture forms. Manage on-page SEO and keyword targeting, and track organic performance against traffic and lead goals. Maintain site analytics and report on visitors, conversions, and content performance. Coordinate outside web developers or agencies where a build goes beyond the content management system. LinkedIn and Social Media Run the RefMed company page on a consistent cadence, roughly three posts a week, rotating by audience segment. Draft and schedule posts for company leadership, including the CEO, and help build their presence as industry voices. Plan, launch, and optimize paid LinkedIn campaigns and InMail outreach within budget. Track engagement, follower growth, and campaign performance, and adjust based on what the results show. Email and Marketing Automation Build and maintain segmented contact lists in the CRM and email platform. Write and deploy multi-email nurture sequences tailored to each audience segment. Run event follow-up campaigns for leads captured at conferences. Monitor deliverability, open rates, click rates, and list health. Direct Marketing Collateral and Design Create segment-specific one-pagers, sales leave-behinds, product overviews, and conference materials. Manage print production and promotional items, including vendor selection, proofs, and delivery timelines. Produce or coordinate short product demo videos and explainer content, using AI generation and editing tools where they shorten the path. Keep brand standards consistent across every asset, and maintain the template library the sales team works from. Events and Conferences Own the annual conference calendar, roughly 15 events across workers' compensation, legal, MSA, risk management, and insurance audiences. Handle registration, booth logistics, shipping, sponsorships, and on-site setup. Run pre-show outreach and post-show follow-up so that events produce tracked leads rather than a stack of business cards. Coordinate speaking and continuing education opportunities for company leadership and subject matter experts. Plan and host quarterly webinars, including promotion, platform, run of show, and follow-up. Planning, Measurement, and Budget Manage the annual marketing budget and report on spend by channel. Track and report monthly on the metrics that matter: qualified leads by segment, pipeline contribution, cost per acquisition, and content performance. Recommend where to shift effort and spend based on results, and bring a point of view rather than a dashboard. Manage outside vendors, freelancers, and agencies as needed. What We're Looking For Five or more years in B2B marketing, with direct hands-on responsibility for content, website, and campaigns rather than oversight of others who did the work. Demonstrated daily use of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot in real marketing work. Be ready to walk us through your actual workflow: what you use, for which tasks, how you prompt, and how you check the output. This carries real weight in the hiring decision. Strong writing, and the judgment to tell good writing from fluent writing. AI will hand you a competent draft in seconds. Knowing what to cut, what to sharpen, and what to throw out entirely is the skill we are hiring for. You will be asked for writing samples, and we will read them closely. Sound judgment about accuracy. You should be the kind of person who gets uncomfortable publishing a number you have not personally traced back to its source. Working knowledge of the tools this job runs on: a content management system such as WordPress, an email and marketing automation platform, a CRM, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and a design tool such as Canva or the Adobe suite. Practical SEO and analytics ability, enough to plan content around real search intent and report honestly on what it produced. Event and conference experience, including the logistics that make an event work. The ability to learn a technical subject quickly and write about it accurately. Self-direction. You will be the only marketing person here, setting your own priorities against a written plan and finishing work without someone checking on it. A positive mental attitude. This one matters to us, and we mean something specific by it. Small companies run on energy. The person in this seat will hit slow months, unanswered campaigns, and plans that have to change in the middle. We want someone who stays constructive when that happens, who brings solutions along with problems, and who is good to be around at a booth on the second day of a conference. Comfort working on-site in our Lakeland, Florida office, and willingness to travel for conferences an estimated 15 to 20% of the time. Nice to Have Marketing experience in workers' compensation, insurance, healthcare data, or the legal industry. Experience marketing a subscription data or software product to a professional audience. Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement concepts such as fee schedules, CPT and HCPCS coding, or medical bill review. Experience building AI-assisted content or campaign workflows, including custom prompts, assistants, or automations. Video production and editing skills. Graphic design ability beyond template work. Experience building a marketing function from the ground up at a small company. How We Work RefMed is founder-owned and growing, with subscription revenue on multi-year terms and products that sit at the center of how workers' compensation medical bills are priced in this country. We are small on purpose. People here have real ownership of their work, few approval layers to get through, and direct access to the CEO. We are also serious about using AI well. That means using it everywhere it saves time, and never using it as an excuse to publish something we have not verified. If that combination sounds right to you, we should talk. The marketing plan is written, the budget is set, and the subject matter expertise is already here. What is missing is the person to execute it. You will not spend your first year building consensus. You will spend it building the brand.
