Job Description

Director of Video Marketing Position Summary A leading behavioral healthcare organization is seeking a Director of Video Marketing to lead the strategy, creative direction, production, and growth of its YouTube and podcast channels. This role will transform complex topics in brain health, mental wellness, and psychiatry into credible, engaging content that educates audiences, strengthens the organization's brand, and supports measurable business growth. The ideal candidate is both a strategic marketer and an accomplished director. They understand how to build repeatable video franchises, direct medical experts and high-profile guests, develop compelling stories, and optimize content for discovery, retention, engagement, and conversion. This person will oversee the complete content lifecycle—from audience research and show development through production, distribution, performance analysis, and repurposing. Key Responsibilities YouTube Strategy and Growth Develop and own a comprehensive YouTube strategy aligned with the organization's brand, clinical mission, audience needs, and growth objectives. Create an editorial roadmap encompassing long-form educational videos, interviews, documentary-style stories, recurring series, Shorts, livestreams, and promotional content. Direct the development of compelling titles, thumbnails, hooks, scripts, descriptions, chapters, playlists, and calls to action. Apply YouTube best practices to improve reach, click-through rate, audience retention, watch time, subscriber growth, and conversion. Use audience insights, search behavior, platform trends, and competitive research to identify high-potential topics and formats. Build testing programs for creative concepts, thumbnails, titles, episode structures, and publishing strategies. Maintain a disciplined publishing calendar and scalable content-production system. Podcast Direction Lead the creative and production direction of the organization's video and audio podcasts. Develop distinctive show concepts, episode formats, recurring segments, guest strategies, and narrative approaches. Direct hosts, physicians, subject-matter experts, patients, and guests to produce natural, authoritative, and emotionally engaging conversations. Oversee episode research, briefing documents, run-of-show development, interview preparation, recording, editing, and publication. Ensure each podcast episode translates effectively across YouTube, podcast platforms, social media, email, and the organization's digital channels. Identify and secure relevant guests who can expand the show's authority and reach. Establish consistent standards for recording quality, pacing, storytelling, branding, and audience experience. Production Partner with producers, editors, writers, designers, videographers, audio engineers, and external production companies. Guide scripting and story development while preserving the authentic voices of clinicians and other featured experts. Review cuts and provide clear, actionable feedback on structure, pacing, graphics, sound design, accuracy, and brand alignment. Establish production workflows, creative standards, templates, and approval processes that increase quality and efficiency. Manage production schedules, resources, vendors, contracts, and budgets. Stay current with evolving video formats, production technologies, creator practices, and distribution opportunities. Integrated Marketing and Content Distribution Design content packages that turn long-form episodes into Shorts, Reels, clips, articles, email content, promotional assets, and paid advertisements. Develop effective calls to action and audience journeys that connect educational content with appropriate organizational services and resources. Partner with media and growth teams to support content amplification, retargeting, and audience development. Ensure YouTube and podcast programming complements broader brand campaigns and organizational priorities. Analytics and Business Performance Define channel goals, performance indicators, dashboards, and reporting cadences. Monitor metrics including impressions, click-through rate, retention, watch time, subscribers, downloads, engagement, leads, appointments, and attributable revenue. Present results, insights, risks, and recommendations to executive stakeholders. Balance audience growth with brand trust, clinical credibility, and business outcomes. Leadership and Brand Stewardship Lead and mentor a high-performing video and podcast team. Foster a culture of creative ambition, operational accountability, experimentation, and continuous improvement. Collaborate closely with physicians, executives, clinical reviewers, and legal or compliance partners. Ensure content is accurate, responsible, compassionate, and consistent with organizational standards. Establish safeguards for patient privacy, informed consent, health-related claims, copyrights, sponsorships, and platform disclosure requirements. Handle sensitive mental-health subjects with appropriate care and editorial judgment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, film, journalism, media production, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 8+ years of experience in video marketing, digital media, production, or content strategy. 3+ years leading teams, major productions, or high-volume content operations. Demonstrated success growing a YouTube channel, video podcast, or comparable digital-media property. Strong directing experience with hosts, executives, medical experts, guests, or other on-camera talent. Advanced understanding of YouTube analytics, packaging, search, recommendation systems, retention, and audience development. Experience managing the complete production process, including development, pre-production, filming, post-production, distribution, and measurement. Strong editorial judgment and the ability to translate scientific or technical material into accessible stories without sacrificing accuracy. Experience managing budgets, freelancers, agencies, vendors, and production schedules. Excellent leadership, presentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
