Job Overview The Animal Nutrition Sales/Marketing Specialist is responsible for managing the purchase, sale, and marketing of livestock feed and related agricultural commodities. This position requires a strong understanding of agricultural markets, commodity pricing, customer needs, supply chains, and animal nutrition. The successful candidate will develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers, identify market opportunities, negotiate pricing and contracts, manage inventory and logistics, and implement strategies that support profitable sales growth. The position also provides knowledgeable, customer-focused support regarding feed products, animal nutrition, and livestock production goals. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities Analyze agricultural market trends, commodity prices, and market movements to support informed purchasing and sales decisions. Establish, develop, and maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers and customers. Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and other purchasing and sales agreements. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate logistics for feed and commodity shipments. Develop and implement effective feed and commodity marketing strategies to support sales growth and profitability. Ensure purchasing, sales, merchandising, and marketing activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards. Identify, evaluate, and manage risks associated with commodity purchasing, sales, pricing, and market fluctuations. Collaborate with internal departments, including Operations, Accounting, and Feed Store personnel, to support efficient and effective business operations. Prepare and present reports related to market conditions, sales performance, inventory levels, market forecasts, and other relevant business metrics. Provide responsive, professional customer service and resolve customer questions, concerns, and issues in a timely manner. Maintain a working knowledge of animal nutrition, feed products, and feed formulation principles to effectively assist customers with product selection and feeding needs. Consult with customers to identify feed and feed-related products that support their livestock production goals. Identify opportunities to increase sales, strengthen customer relationships, expand market share, and improve profitability. Stay current on industry trends, market developments, feed products, and relevant agricultural practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications & Skills Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in agricultural sales, commodity trading, or a related field ; livestock feed sales experience preferred. Experience in agribusiness, agricultural marketing, animal science, commodity trading, or a related discipline. Strong analytical, mathematical, and numerical skills with the ability to interpret market and pricing information. Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales goals and business objectives. Working knowledge of agricultural markets, commodities, pricing, and supply chains. Working knowledge of livestock feed and related agricultural products. Basic understanding of animal nutrition and feed formulation principles. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and make timely, informed decisions. Customer-focused mindset with a proactive, professional, and solutions-oriented approach. Ability to understand customer needs and provide recommendations that support livestock production goals. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to push, pull, climb, bend, reach, and perform other physical activities as required by the position. Ability to safely perform job duties in both indoor and outdoor environments. Working Conditions Work is performed in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, with occasional exposure to inclement weather and varying environmental conditions. Regular driving is required as part of the position.
