Job Description

Head of Brand & Marketing Nice & Weird Group Reports to: Director of Operations Strategic relationship: CEO / Managing Partner External resources: Freelance designer and specialist partners
Salary:
$100,000-$115,000 annually Position Overview Nice & Weird Group creates places and experiences with distinct personalities. We are looking for a Head of Brand & Marketing who can understand what makes each one worth choosing, explain it clearly, and find smart ways to bring people through the door and back again. The right person will be curious about why people choose the places, products, and experiences they do. This is a hands-on role responsible for strategy, campaigns, content, writing and editing, channels, vendors, and performance. The role reports to the Director of Operations and works with the CEO on the parent brand, major launches, material positioning decisions, and significant public matters. Key Responsibilities Strategy, Campaigns & Growth Create annual marketing plans and budgets for the Group and each operating business, tied to clear commercial and customer goals. Develop positioning, audiences, messaging, and campaigns based on customer behavior, competitive context, and what makes each concept genuinely distinctive. Look beyond standard marketing tactics for opportunities in the guest experience, programming, partnerships, pricing, and communication that can influence customer choice and create disproportionate value. Build experimentation into the marketing function: test promising ideas, learn quickly, and expand what works. Own the marketing calendar across launches, seasonal campaigns, events, partnerships, promotions, and recurring communications. Oversee email, websites, listings, search, paid media, social media, and other customer-facing channels; adjust plans and spending based on results rather than activity alone. Track campaign and channel performance and use results to challenge assumptions, refine strategy, and improve effectiveness. Brand & Creative Direction Own the positioning, voice, and visual direction of Nice & Weird Group while protecting the distinct character of each business. Turn business priorities into clear briefs for the retained designer, photographers, developers, PR partners, and other specialists. Review and approve guest-facing work, maintain practical brand standards, and keep creative assets organized and reusable. Operations & Venue Collaboration Work with the Director of Operations and venue leaders to align marketing with revenue needs, venue capacity, and programming. Marketing owns audience strategy and promotion; Operations and venue teams own the experience and its execution. Create a clear intake process and decide where businesses should share audiences and stories and where each brand should stand independently. Public Relations, Partnerships & Vendors Lead public relations, media opportunities, and partnerships that support defined audience or business goals. Manage marketing budgets, vendors, and invoices with Operations and Finance. Coordinate with the CEO and Director of Operations on sensitive or reputational matters. Content & Marketing Operations Plan, create, and publish routine social, email, website, and promotional content, coordinating with venue teams to keep information timely and accurate. Direct the retained freelance designer and other specialists through clear priorities, briefs, feedback, and approval. Build simple workflows that keep projects, files, deadlines, budgets, and responsibilities organized. Decision Rights The Head of Brand & Marketing owns day-to-day marketing and creative decisions within approved plans and budgets. The Director of Operations sets priorities, manages the role, and resolves competing requests. The CEO approves major positioning, identity, launch, and reputational decisions through a scheduled monthly brand review rather than daily direction. Qualifications & Skills Experience leading brand and marketing for hospitality, food and beverage, lifestyle, retail, cultural, or other customer-facing businesses; multi-brand experience is preferred. A record of connecting customer insight, positioning, and marketing activity to measurable commercial outcomes. Strong understanding of consumer behavior and genuine curiosity about why people make the choices they do. Strong creative judgment and hands-on experience with campaigns, copy, email, digital channels, projects, reporting, and vendors. Comfort with experimentation, measurement, and using evidence to challenge assumptions and refine strategy. Experience directing freelance or agency partners through clear briefs, priorities, and feedback. The judgment and organization to manage competing requests and move comfortably between strategy and execution. Hudson Valley knowledge is helpful.
