Job Summary:
The Production Project Manager - Product Quality & Safety supports products throughout the post-purchase-order process, from order setup and product specifications through production, testing, and final customer documentation. This position works closely with overseas teams, suppliers, internal departments, and retail customers to ensure products are accurate, compliant, and on schedule.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Review and process customer purchase orders according to established requirements and deadlines Communicate with overseas teams and suppliers regarding production status, product quality, testing, documentation, and customer requirements Enter and maintain accurate product specifications, sample information, pricing, and order details in company and customer systems Prepare purchase orders and supporting documentation for overseas processing Coordinate product testing and maintain documentation required to demonstrate compliance with applicable safety regulations and customer standards Review product components, materials, construction details, packaging, and labeling for accuracy and compliance Monitor production timelines and proactively communicate delays, discrepancies, risks, and required updates Analyze product pricing using historical quotes, purchase orders, material and labor costs, and exchange rates Support product development by reviewing designs and construction methods and recommending changes related to quality, safety, cost, or customer requirements Enter and maintain product information in customer portals and complete item-setup and pre-sale tasks as needed Investigate customer chargebacks and quality concerns, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions Research and help onboard new product categories, including applicable testing, labeling, and documentation requirements Maintain organized and accurate records for purchase orders, testing, product specifications, and customer approvals Develop and implement process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and communication across departments Provide support to merchandising, sales, logistics, and product development as needed Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving abilities Ability to interpret and follow detailed customer requirements and established procedures Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and overseas teams Strong mathematical skills, including percentages, pricing calculations, and imperial-to-metric conversions Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems quickly
Education and Experience:
One to three years of experience in a detail-oriented role involving project coordination, order management, quality assurance, compliance, production, or product development Experience with purchase orders, product specifications, testing documentation, customer portals, overseas suppliers, or imported consumer products preferred Home décor, retail, manufacturing, or consumer-product experience is a plus College degree preferred, but not required; relevant professional experience will also be considered
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain at a computer workstation for extended periods Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment throughout the workday Ability to stand or move throughout the office intermittently
