Job Description
Overview The Product Specialist / Product Manager is responsible for the successful management of product information, product data, product documentation, and new product launches throughout the product lifecycle. This position serves as a key resource for product knowledge and owns the processes that ensure products are accurate, complete, properly documented, and ready for market. The position works closely with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, Aftersales, and other internal teams to coordinate product development, launch readiness, ongoing product support, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Product Launch & Lifecycle Management Manage product launch planning and execution from initial planning through production and market release. Coordinate new product readiness reviews and maintain launch checklists to ensure all requirements are completed before launch. Manage products throughout their lifecycle, including new product introductions, updates, revisions, improvements, and product changes. Coordinate launch activities across Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, Aftersales, and other relevant departments. Track launch milestones, identify potential issues or delays, and coordinate solutions with appropriate teams. Ensure all product information, documentation, training materials, and digital assets are complete and available prior to launch. Product Information & Data Management Manage product information management and governance processes. Manage SKU numbers, UPCs, part numbers, product descriptions, specifications, and product attributes. Maintain product data quality, accuracy, consistency, and completeness across internal and external systems. Ensure product information is current and accurate across websites, catalogs, sell sheets, partner platforms, sales materials, and other customer-facing channels. Manage and maintain product records within PIM, ERP, inventory, and other applicable business systems. Establish and maintain processes for product data governance, updates, approvals, and ongoing maintenance. Identify and resolve product-data discrepancies and work with appropriate departments to ensure accurate information. Product Documentation & Content Manage the coordination and maintenance of technical product documentation. Coordinate specifications, installation guides, sell sheets, catalogs, product guides, presentations, and other product-related materials. Work with Engineering and other subject-matter experts to ensure technical information is accurate and up to date. Coordinate product content and digital assets for websites, catalogs, partner platforms, and other sales channels. Ensure product content is consistent and accurately reflects current product specifications and features. Maintain documentation and product-content processes to support timely updates when products change. Product Training & Knowledge Transfer Develop product-training materials, product guides, presentations, and other educational resources. Coordinate product training and knowledge transfer for Sales, Inside Sales, Customer Care, Aftersales, Marketing, and other internal teams. Serve as a subject-matter resource for product features, specifications, applications, functionality, and positioning. Ensure internal teams have the product knowledge and resources needed to effectively support customers and sell products. Product Support & Issue Resolution Support Sales, Customer Care, Aftersales, and other internal teams with product-related questions and customer needs. Manage or coordinate product issue tracking and resolution management. Help identify, document, and communicate product issues to the appropriate internal departments. Coordinate communication between customers and internal teams regarding product-related concerns and solutions. Track recurring product issues and identify opportunities for product, process, or documentation improvements. Gather feedback from customers, Sales, Customer Care, Aftersales, and other teams to identify opportunities for improvement. Cross-Functional Project Coordination Coordinate cross-functional product projects involving Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, and Aftersales. Establish project timelines, action items, responsibilities, and deliverables as needed. Facilitate communication between departments to keep product-related projects moving forward. Identify project risks, gaps, and dependencies and help coordinate appropriate solutions. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product information, documentation, launches, and internal processes. Market & Product Support Stay informed about company products, industry trends, customer needs, and competitive products. Monitor product performance and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement. Support wholesale and retail customers with product questions and information. Assist Sales and Aftersales teams in identifying product-related solutions based on customer needs. Perform other product-related duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Experience in product management, product support, product information management, manufacturing, engineering, sales support, or a related field preferred. Experience with Product Information Management (PIM) systems preferred. Experience with product lifecycle management and new product introductions. Experience managing technical product documentation and product content. Understanding of product data governance, data quality, and information management. Experience working with manufactured, engineered, technical, or highly configurable products preferred. Experience with project management and product launch coordination. Experience coordinating or leading cross-functional teams and projects. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to understand, learn, and communicate technical product information. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities. Strong problem-solving and customer-service skills. Ability to quickly learn products and become a knowledgeable resource for others. Experience documenting processes and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software. Experience with PIM, ERP, PLM, CRM, inventory, or other product/business systems is a plus. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with multiple departments and teams.
