Brief overview of assignment: The Project Assistant position will be dedicated to supporting the Housing and Human Services Department (HHS), as requested by the Manager. The position will provide communications and social media support to promote HHS programs, services, resources, events, and community initiatives. The Project Assistant will help develop timely, accessible, and engaging digital content, ensuring Riverside residents are informed about available resources and how to access HHS services. This dedicated support will strengthen HHS's ability to maintain consistent community outreach and effectively communicate important information to residents.

Education:

Equivalent to an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in public and/or business administration, economics, urban planning, community development, real estate development, housing development, accounting, arts, design, marketing or advertising, humanities, arts and cultural management or a related field. Two additional years of experience may substitute for the required education.

Experience:

Two years of advanced experience in marketing or advertising, or a related field. Highly Desired Qualifications

• Experience creating social media content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, or similar platforms
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to develop clear, engaging captions and adapt messaging for different audiences
• Experience creating short-form video content, including filming, editing, selecting audio, and developing concepts for Reels and similar content
• Working knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other graphic design and content creation tools
• A strong visual eye for photography, video, composition, branding, and social media trends
• Ability to brainstorm creative content ideas and turn concepts into finished social media content
• Experience developing or maintaining social media content calendars and coordinating posts around campaigns, events, programs, and organizational priorities
• Ability to identify social media trends and determine how they can be appropriately adapted for an organization or public-facing brand
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, approvals, and priorities
• Comfortable attending events, programs, and activities to capture real-time photo and video content
• Experience reviewing social media performance and using insights to recommend improvements to future content
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with staff, departments, community partners, and other stakeholders
• Attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency with established brand standards, voice, messaging, accessibility, and visual identity
• Initiative, curiosity, and the ability to work independently while also contributing ideas in a collaborative environment
