About LeGuan Violin LeGuan Violin is a boutique string instrument retailer serving students, families, teachers, and professional musicians. Position Summary We are seeking a part-time string musician to create performance-based social media content and assist customers with instrument and accessory sales at our Westbury, New York showroom. This is a primarily in-person position. Regular attendance at the showroom is required for training, customer service, instrument demonstrations, content recording, and scheduled store shifts. Limited hybrid content-creation work may be approved after training; this is not a fully remote position. Middle school and high school students age 14 or older are welcome to apply. College students and other qualified musicians may also apply. Applicants must currently play at least one bowed string instrument: violin, viola, cello, or double bass. The ability to play a string instrument is mandatory. Regularly appearing on camera and recording videos of yourself playing is an essential responsibility of this position. Videos will be published through LeGuan Violin's business social media accounts. Responsibilities Regularly appear on camera and record videos of yourself playing a string instrument. Demonstrate instruments in product videos, educational clips, short-form content, livestreams, and promotional campaigns. Help plan, film, edit, caption, and publish content on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and other company accounts. Explain differences in instrument tone, projection, playability, and features. Welcome customers and help them select instruments, bows, cases, strings, and accessories. Support customer follow-up and personally completed retail sales. Assist with product photography, merchandising, and maintaining an organized showroom. Employees will not be required to publish company content through their personal social media accounts. Schedule and Hybrid Flexibility Approximately 8-20 hours per week, subject to age-specific legal limits. A minimum of 8 paid hours per week is guaranteed. Employees ages 14-15 may work up to 18 hours during a school week; employees ages 16 and older may be scheduled for up to 20 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible around school, lessons, rehearsals, and family commitments. There is no minimum shift length. Shorter after-school shifts and longer weekend or school-holiday shifts may be scheduled. Customer service, retail sales, training, and assigned showroom work must be completed in person. After training, approved content planning, editing, caption writing, or self-recorded performance assignments may be completed remotely. Hybrid work is not guaranteed and depends on reliability, content quality, project needs, legal requirements, and supervisor approval. All remote working time must be approved, accurately recorded, and paid at the regular hourly rate.

Compensation Guaranteed base pay:

$18.00 per hour for every hour worked.

Sales commission:

10% of the eligible selling price of retail sales personally completed by the employee. Sales tax, shipping, discounts, canceled orders, refunds, and returned merchandise are excluded from commission calculations. Commission is paid monthly after the applicable return period.

Expected total compensation:

approximately $18-$35 per hour equivalent, depending on sales performance. Base pay is guaranteed; commission is not guaranteed. Required Qualifications Must be at least 14 years old when employment begins. Must currently play violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Must be willing and able to regularly perform and appear on camera. Friendly, dependable, responsible, and willing to learn. Interested in music, social media, video production, customer service, or retail sales. Previous professional work experience is not required. Requirements for Applicants Under 18 Valid New York State working papers must be provided before employment begins. Parent or legal guardian authorization will be required for employment and the business use of the employee's image, voice, and musical performances. Recorded performance work is conditional upon completion of all legally required child-performer permits, employer documentation, trust-account information, and other applicable paperwork. LeGuan Violin will complete the employer-required portions of this process. All in-person and remote work must comply with applicable youth-employment hours and supervision requirements. Minors will not be assigned hazardous or legally prohibited duties. Paid Internship Option This position may also be structured as a paid internship. Interns receive the same $18.00 hourly base pay plus 10% commission. School documentation may be supported when requested, subject to the school's approval.
