Zen Hills | Downtown Rapid City, South Dakota Are you a student who likes graphic design, social media, photography, or creating things and wants to see your work actually turn into something people buy? Zen Hills is looking for a creative intern to help us develop our products, social media, and brand while getting hands-on experience inside a growing small business. This is a hands-on internship, not a position where you'll spend the day making spreadsheets or sitting in the back office. You'll work directly with the owners and have the opportunity to see your ideas go from concept to finished product. What You'll Work On Graphic Design Create original artwork for Zen Hills products Develop designs for magnets, keychains, ornaments, souvenirs, and other products Create simple vector graphics and illustrations Modify existing artwork and templates Work with typography, colors, shapes, and layers Learn how designs are prepared for real-world products Help turn creative concepts into finished artwork Social Media Help develop our Instagram and TikTok strategy Brainstorm content ideas Help build a social media calendar Take photos and videos of products and the store Create short-form content Help write captions and organize content Help identify trends and opportunities for content Small Business Experience Work directly with the owners See how products are developed, manufactured, marketed, and sold Help merchandise the retail store Interact with customers and learn the retail side of the business Pitch in with whatever needs to get done Because we're a small business, you'll get exposure to a lot more than what's written on a typical internship description. Who We're Looking For We're especially interested in students studying: Graphic Design Marketing Advertising Communications Digital Media Photography Or a related field You don't need professional experience. We're more interested in your creativity, reliability, willingness to learn, and ability to actually make things. Adobe Experience Experience with Adobe Illustrator is highly preferred. Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Express, or other Adobe experience is a plus. You don't need to be an expert. You should have enough experience with Illustrator to understand the basics and be comfortable learning as you go. A portfolio is not required, but examples of your work are strongly encouraged. If you've never used Adobe Illustrator before, this probably isn't the right internship for you. Schedule This is a part-time internship designed to work around a student's schedule, generally around 15-25 hours per week. Typical hours are approximately 10 AM-5 PM, with scheduling generally falling Tuesday or Wednesday through Sunday. We can work with your class schedule and other commitments. Weekend availability is required, but you will not necessarily work every weekend. About Zen Hills Zen Hills is a U.S. manufacturer specializing in specialty gifts and custom manufacturing. We design and produce unique products for souvenir shops, gift stores, and other retailers. Our products are designed and made in-house. As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to see your work move from an idea on a computer to a physical product that customers can actually purchase. We're a small, growing company, which means you'll work directly with the owners and have a real opportunity to contribute ideas.
