Master Framer

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Framer to lead and oversee complex construction projects with precision and expertise. As a Master Framer, you will be responsible for managing all phases of construction, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities Roof Systems:

Hand-cutting complex rafters (stick framing) rather than just relying on pre-fab trusses.

Load-Bearing Headers:

Sizing and installing LVLs (Laminated Veneer Lumber) and steel flitch plates to support massive open-concept spans.

Shear Wall Installation:

Ensuring the building meets seismic or wind-load requirements by overseeing specific nailing patterns and hardware like hold-downs.

Material Management:

Estimating "take-offs" (lumber lists) to minimize waste and ensure the right grade of wood is used for the right application.

Mentorship:

Teaching apprentice framers how to "read" wood (crowning studs) and safe tool operation. The "Punch List"

Audit:

Walking the frame before the building inspector arrives to check for missing fire-blocking, improper nailing, or plate alignment. $30.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
