Job Title:
Mechanical Startup Lead 2 Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Startup Lead 2 to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical startup support, particularly in liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants, and will be responsible for managing and executing startup and commissioning activities. This role requires a proactive individual who prioritizes safety and quality and can effectively communicate with various stakeholders. Responsibilities Abide by all safety rules and help establish and maintain a culture focused on safety. Assist in planning the proper sequence and schedule of startup activities to ensure completion within schedule and budget requirements. Perform project startup and commissioning activities as directed by the Manager. Develop Startup Turnover Packages and support the implementation of owner/end user Startup procedures on projects. Manage execution of pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities, including functional testing and PSSRs as directed by the Site Startup Manager. Develop and manage project Startup budgets and schedules as directed by the Site Startup Manager. Prepare progress reports for project stakeholders and ensure final reports, certificates, and document startup and commissioning results, including punch list development and handover documentation, are documented. Ensure the quality requirements of the applicable plans, specifications, and standards are met. Identify installation problems, assist in developing solutions, and ensure corrective actions are taken by the craft, contractor, or vendor in accordance with an approved plan. Coordinate and oversee process equipment needs before starting/commissioning activities, including process piping readiness, process consumables, and spare parts. Verify mechanical and piping system readiness prior to equipment startup, including completion of installation, inspections, and pre‑startup requirements. Confirm readiness of upstream and downstream process systems prior to startup and coordinate mechanical system interfaces with operations, electrical, I&C, and process stakeholders. Verify availability of required OEM‑recommended spare parts, consumables, and startup materials prior to equipment startup. Serve as the primary mechanical interface with vendors during equipment startup activities and coordinate vendor site activities. Support field execution of mechanical startup and commissioning activities under the direction of the Site Startup Manager. Enforce safety standards during startup activities, including proper application of LOTO procedures, and ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable environmental and site safety requirements. Identify mechanical installation or readiness issues discovered during startup and coordinate corrective actions with engineering, construction, vendors, and operations teams. Essential Skills 6+ years of experience in mechanical startup support with a focus on piping readiness, system interface verification, spare parts validation, and direct coordination with vendors during equipment startup. Experience supporting startup of LNG mechanical equipment including piping systems, rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, mechanical packages, and utility systems. Adequate knowledge of OSHA and applicable environmental regulations. Adequate knowledge of LNG or fossil power plants and major equipment/systems design and operation. Ability to read and interpret drawings and operations manuals. Effective communication skills and ability to interact with employees across all management levels. Ability to manage time properly and handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Additional Skills & Qualifications Self-starter with a proactive attitude. Capacity to identify opportunities to improve an organization through process improvement. Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, engineering and design staff, and vendors. Ability to plan and organize project Startup activities in a team-building environment. Ability to read and interpret P6 schedules. Work Environment This role will be on-site at the SoCo Gas Cherokee LNG Plant. The work schedule is 5-10s with weekends as needed, and the position requires adherence to all safety standards and protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ball Ground, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
