Part-Time Medical Scribe / Medical Assistant (Premed, Gap Year, Dermatology)

Durham, NC Job Type:
Part-Time ( varies per week 10-29 hours/week) About the Role SWDA , under the direction of Board-Certified Dermatologist Dr. B. Jackson , is hiring a Medical Scribe / Medical Assistant for a structured premedical gap year training program . This role is specifically designed for: Premed students (junior/senior) Gap year applicants to medical school Recent graduates pursuing MD programs You will gain direct patient care experience , dermatology exposure , and real-time scribing experience —all highly valued by medical schools. Top candidates are serious about becoming a physician and are looking for a rigorous, hands-on clinical role to strengthen their application. Opportunities for research and publication available. Key Responsibilities Medical scribing in real-time (EMR documentation) Patient intake: rooming, vitals, and medical history collection Presenting patients to the physician Assisting with dermatologic procedures (biopsies, tray prep, specimen handling) Supporting clinical workflow and patient care Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments Communicating with labs, pharmacies, and physician offices Managing clinic inventory and supplies Administrative duties including scheduling patients Required Qualifications Premed track (junior/senior) OR college graduate Intent to apply to medical school (MD track) 12-24 month commitment
REQUIRED
Strong computer/typing skills (EMR experience a plus) Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment Excellent interpersonal , written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and accuracy Strong work ethic and professionalism Ability to follow protocols and retain medical knowledge Self-motivated, coachable, and adaptable
Preferred:
Prior experience as a medical scribe, MA, CNA, EMT, or clinical volunteer
Schedule Part-time:
